Executive Director Adriana R. Fernandez Amaro (holding the Make-a-Wish doll) with her staff at their office in 5 de Diciembre.

One girl got her wish when she was able to meet Vincente Fox, then-President of Mexico.
The beautiful Flamingos Golf Course in Nuevo Vallarta will be the host course for the 4th Annual Puerto Vallarta Make a Wish Golf tournament, scheduled to be held on Saturday, January 27th, 2007.

According to Adriana R. Fernandez Amaro, the Executive Director of the Puerto Vallarta chapter of Make-a-Wish, the tournament will include 18 foursomes that will tee off at 10 am on Saturday morning. The golf field is just about complete, but you can still sign up to play by contacting the local Make-a-Wish office at 222-9111.

As in past years, prizes will be awarded to winning participants, special prizes will be awarded for a hole-in-one and other special achievements, and a post-tournament cocktail party and gala dinner will follow the tournament at the CasaMagna Marriott Resort in the Marina at 7:30 pm.

The cost for both the tournament and the dinner is $1650 pesos ($150 USD) per person. If you're not a golfer, but want to join in the celebration - and support a worthy cause - you can purchase a "Dinner Only" ticket for just $550 pesos or $50 USD. Call the local office at 222-9111 for ticket information.

All proceeds from both the Tournament and the Gala Dinner will go directly to fulfilling the wishes of Mexican children with life-threatening diseases. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to have fun, while bringing joy and happiness to terminally ill children at a time when they need it most.

The Puerto Vallarta Chapter of Make a Wish was formed by New Mexico's former Make a Wish Foundation Vice President, Bob Mandel, who set up Mexico's corporate headquarters right here in Puerto Vallarta in November of 2000.

Since that time, the Puerto Vallarta Chapter of Make-a-Wish has been granting more than one wish a month to children with life threatening diseases through charitable contributions and fund raising events such as this.

Some wishes that have been granted recently by the Mexico chapter have been sending an avid Chivas fan to a game, where he got to spend some time with the team in the locker room, meet and get autographs from his favorite team. Others fulfilled wishes include a trip to Disneyland, meeting the Pope, swimming with the dolphins and flying in an F-16 aircraft.

Another Make a Wish event is just around the corner. On Saturday, February 3rd, the foundation's 7th Annual Cocktail and Gourmet Dinner will be held at Fidencio's Restaurant on Los Muertos Beach. Tickets are $300 pesos each and seating is limited to 200, so get your tickets soon. The menu is too extensive to describe, but includes an array of scrumptious food. Contact the office for more details.

Make-a-Wish is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization and contributions are tax deductible in the United States. Even if you miss either event, contributions are welcome at any time and go directly to the recipients of the volunteer organization.
