Mexico, D.F. - Over 500 leaders from the real estate, business and political community attended the Toma de Protesta (Inauguration) of Lic Mario Aviles as the new President of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI).

Mario is from the State of Mexico AMPI Section. Among those attending the event were eleven Past Presidents of AMPI and Lic. Carlos Gutierez Ruiz, Director General of the Mexican Department of Housing.

At the same event, members of the National Advisory Council and Presidents of AMPI's fifty-two local Sections were also sworn in. Among the ten members joining the Council for the 2007-2009 term is Linda Neil of AMPI Los Cabos and La Paz and founder of The Settlement Company. This is the second term for Linda who also served from 2000-2002.

During his Inaugural address new President, Mario outlined AMPI's strategic plan for the next two years. At the top of the agenda is better communications. To this end, AMPI leaders, Council members and Presidents of Sections have been provided with a) a "memory stick" which contains the Association's strategic goals, calendars of events for International and national Conferences, as well as local forums and seminars and meetings of the Presidents and Council members and b) a new skype telephone system which will allow better communication.

AMPI has experienced considerable growth in recent years. There are now nearly 3,000 members across Mexico as AMPI marks its 51st year as the country's national real estate association. In 2006, AMPI and the U.S. National Association of Realtors (NAR) signed a joint venture agreement. As a result nearly 200 NAR members have joined the International Section of AMPI.
