Feria del Arte at Plaza Caracol
email this pageprint this pageemail usPVNN

Scheduled to take place April 13th-15th from 1 to 9 pm at Plaza Caracol, the Feria del Arte presents the unique opportunity to buy art for a worthy cause! If you wish to know more about the charity you will be supporting, please visit pasitosdeluz.org.
A number of recent changes and additions have been making Plaza Caracol a popular place to spend the day in Puerto Vallarta. In addition to the new Cinemark movie theater, familiar franchises like Subway and RadioShack are drawing both locals and visitors to this ultra-modern shopping mall.

But one of the best things about this new and improved shopping center is that there is plenty of air-conditioned space for exciting art and cultural events. Last month, Plaza Caracol hosted the second annual Festival Indigena Wixaritari, and this month, Galeria Vallarta will be sponsoring the Feria del Arte Plaza Caracol.

Scheduled to take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 13th, 14th and 15th from 1 to 9 pm behind the electric stairways that take you to the cinemas in the new section of Plaza Caracol, the Feria del Arte presents the unique opportunity to buy art to suit all tastes and budgets - for a worthy cause!

Proceeds from this exhibition, which will feature original art by local, regional and international artists, will benefit Pasitos de Luz, a non-profit organization that offers assistance, rehabilitation and housing to children with severe handicaps from extremely impoverished families in Puerto Vallarta and the Banderas Bay area.

"After almost 20 years of promoting the best Mexican art, artists, original jewelry and indigenous handicrafts in Puerto Vallarta," says Galeria Vallarta owner Barbara Peters, "I am thrilled to sponsor this worthwhile endeavor."

The Feria del Arte Plaza Caracol will showcase a selection of original paintings by exceptional artists from all over the world, including: Cinthia Corona, Steve Fischer, Dionicio Becerra, Ron Berg, Ioulia Akhmadeeva, Brisa Paola, Cristobal, Galileo, Nelly Barquet, Martha Lucey, Steven King, Sergio Narvaez, Claudia Nery, Dimitar Krustev, Jesus Real Ruiz, V.J. Shukla, Francisco Camarena, Roman Mazurek, Erika Jimena Morales and Miguel Angel.

While many of these artists have been exhibiting their works at Galeria Vallarta and other popular Puerto Vallarta art galleries for years, this show has a special emphasis on artworks created by young artists and art students.

In addition, there will be a collection of prints by Octavio Ocampo, Botero, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Martha Gilbert, Isaac Aguilar and other famous artists as well as crafts, jewelry, metal art and imported items from the new shop "Egipto" in Plaza Caracol.

Don't miss the action on Friday, April 13th at 6 pm, as bilingual auctioneer Maria José Zorilla gives you the opportunity to bid for some very special items. There will also be musical and dance performances by local entertainers - so come on out, bid on some great art and help some needy children!

But if you happen to miss the auction, don't worry! There will still be plenty of fun and some great deals on original art as the Feria del Arte continues at Plaza Caracol on Saturday and Sunday, April 14th and 15th from 1-9 pm.

For more information, stop by Galeria Vallarta at Juarez 263, just 1/2 block from the main plaza and the famous crowned church, Our Lady of Guadalupe, in downtown Puerto Vallarta, visit GaleriaVallarta.com or call Barbara Peters at [322] 222-0290.
