Ana Isabel Receives Pope's Blessing
email this pageprint this pageemail usLic. Rosario Cibrián - PVNN

Ana had the chance to meet the Holy Father and receive his personal blessings, giving Ana the opportunity to present the Pope with a cross and a Make-A-Wish t-shirt.
Ana Isabel's wish: "I Wish to Meet the Holy Father, Benedict XVI."

After having waited for more than a year, finally the big day came. Ana Isabel's dream of meeting the Roman Pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI, came true.

Arriving in Monterrey from her trip to Europe, Ana Isabel said: "Everything was wonderful, the ceremony; although I still have let jag, everything was wonderful."

Ana Isabel's wish was a challenge to Make-A-Wish Mexico, because she was the first girl who asked to meet the Supreme Pontiff. In fact, the wish was SO difficult that Make-A-Wish asked her if she had another wish - but Ana did not.

Ana Isabel believed in Make-A-Wish magic. While she was going through her Leukemia treatment in Canada, she noticed that every other "wish kid" had their wishes come true, so she just KNEW Make-A-Wish would not let her down....

Two days before Ana's flight, her mother took her to Domino's Pizza, where not only was a Make-A-Wish volunteer waiting with her gifts, but also all her friends were there to wish her a nice trip!

Make-A-Wish volunteers of Italy were eager to make her wish unforgettable and to give her a tour of the key tourist attractions in Rome.
Two days before Ana's flight, with a false excuse of getting her tickets, her mother took her to Domino's Pizza, where not only was a Make-A-Wish volunteer waiting with her gifts, but also all her friends were there to wish her a nice trip! Domino's Pizza Monterrey gave her a wonderful farewell party that Ana enjoyed very much.

Finally, the most eagerly awaited day arrived. On Sunday, July 1st, Ana and her mother flew to Rome, but neither the 21-hour-long-trip or the ensuing jet lag erased Ana's smile. Make-A-Wish volunteers of Italy were eager to make her wish unforgettable and to give her a tour of the key tourist attractions in Rome.

On the big day, Ana was among the more than 700 people who were waiting in the audience chamber to hear the peace message given by Benedict XVI. After the audience, Ana and 20 others had the chance to meet the Holy Father and receive his personal blessings, giving Ana the opportunity to present the Pope with a cross and a Make-A-Wish t-shirt.

Ana said: "Time went by too fast, but it was very special."

And though Ana has many pictures from her trip what she will always remember, not only in her heart but also in her mind, is the blessings that she received and the moment that she spent with Pope Benedict XVI.

Once again, we can say that nothing is impossible when willpowers come together. This was an unforgettable experience for Ana Isabel, who suffers from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and lives in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Ana will be motivated to get better because her dream came true.

El Deseo Ana Isabel: Conocer a su Santidad Beneicto XVI
Lic.
