Las Palmas Announces Luxury Resort-Style Club For Residents

From the very beginning, the goal at Las Palmas was to offer homebuyers exceptional residential properties with exceptional value.

Private retreat opens first phase this winter with fitness center; multi-level pool deck, kids' club, full-service restaurant and other amenities open in 2009

Punta Mita, Mexico - Next year, homeowners at Las Palmas Club & Villas will have their own private luxury club retreat at Punta Mita, a 1,500-acre high-end master-planned, second-home resort community, located on Mexico's stunning Pacific Coast.

Construction of the Las Palmas Club begins this month and will open in winter 2008-2009 with a fitness center. When fully completed later in 2009, the club will boast a lushly landscaped, multi-level pool deck, tastefully decorated with rock gardens, waterfalls and a variety of flowers, trees and plants. The free-form-style pool will be divided into separate areas for laps, exercise and aerobics classes, general adult swimming, and a children's section.

"Our goal was to provide amenities that are simply not available to Punta Mita residents at the different resorts and through Club Punta Mita," says George Wanty, president of BW Developers, developer of Las Palmas based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "Amenities such as a lap pool, kids' club, indoor/outdoor fireplace will be exclusive to the Las Palmas Club."

The pool deck area will be beautifully framed by three Mexican-designed, low-rise buildings. One will feature a restaurant, catering facilities, a small meeting facility, management offices, and a library-style sitting room, boasting a large TV viewing area and a two-sided, indoor/outdoor fireplace with respective sitting areas for cooler Mexican evenings.

A separate children's clubhouse for kids five to 14 years old will feature such amenities as video games, ping-pong and pool tables, and a home theater. A third building will house the fitness center, complete with a sauna, whirlpool, day lockers, full shower and dressing facilities, state-of-the-art lifecycles, stationary bikes, cardiovascular equipment, weight machines and free weights. Personal trainers will be available by appointment.

The Las Palmas Club is a collaboration of Barba and Ramirez Architects, locally-based designers of the Kupuri Beach Club in Punta Mita; EDSA (based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), another internationally known master plan developer, which engineered Punta Mita's original master plan; and Architectural Design Group, a Lakeland, Florida-based international architecture firm focused on high-end clubs, resorts and recreational facilities worldwide.

"The idea for Las Palmas Club was to design a very high-end club within a resort-style community," says Wade Setliff, president of the Architectural Design Group. "We wanted a very dramatic, romantic look with lots of water movement between the waterfalls, the three pool areas, and the surrounding Pacific Ocean. We also wanted to frame the pool deck area - giving it some context and definition - with locally designed Mexican-style buildings, complete with high, vaulted ceilings and use of local wood, stone and tiles."

Las Palmas is uniquely situated because it is the closest residential resort property in Punta Mita to the existing Residents' Beach Club, the new St. Regis Resort & Residences, slated to open in November 2008, and the Punta Mita Golf Club, with its two 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses.

The community is situated on the western, Pacific Ocean side of Punta Mita, offering breathtaking sunsets, and overlooking the Par 3 golf hole surrounded by water. The community is a short, two-minute golf cart ride to Punta Mita's original 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course called Pacifico, and Punta Mita's Residents' Beach Club, a private facility for Punta Mita property owners and their guests.

Las Palmas homeowners are entitled to membership at the private Club Punta Mita, as well as access to Punta Mita's three Residents' Beach Clubs, one of which is open and operating on the west side of the peninsula; the second is under construction on the north side and slated to open in 2009 as the Kupuri Beach Club. The Punta Mita Tennis Center, currently being expanded but partially opened, is managed by Four Seasons.

A spear-shaped peninsula with nine miles of Pacific Coast shoreline, Punta Mita is surrounded on three sides by white-sand beaches and dramatic coves. The property boasts both a Four Seasons Resort, (owned by Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Inc.) and a St. Regis Resort, along with a private Residents' Beach Club, and several other villa, condo and private home residence projects planned or under development. DINE has invested approximately $150 million so far in the project's infrastructure, and at full build-out, Punta Mita will have a real estate value of approximately $2 billion USD.

Any whole ownership residence at Punta Mita qualifies for membership in the private Club Punta Mita, which includes the existing Pacifico Course; Bahia, the second Jack Nicklaus Signature Course opening for play in November; access to Punta Mita's three Residents' Beach Clubs and Tennis Center; and an equestrian center planned for the future. Residents also have access to a complete array of services and activities through Punta Mita's Residential Concierge Services. The Punta Mita Golf Club, which includes a full-service restaurant managed by Four Seasons, has expansion plans that will include facilities exclusive to Punta Mita residents.

Punta Mita is an ultra-luxurious, 1,500-acre resort and residential community situated in the Riviera Nayarit, north of Puerto Vallarta. It lies on a private spear-shaped peninsula surrounded by white sand beaches, Pacific Ocean waters and lush tropical flora. Punta Mita is home to private villas and residences; a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course called Pacifico; and the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, voted the #1 golf resort in North America and the U.K. by readers of Condι Nast Traveler (2008). The master plan of Punta Mita includes several additional developments currently in the works, including the St. Regis Resort & Residences and a second Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course (November 2008) called Bahia; a Mii amo destination spa and residences (2010), the all-suite La Solana Resort (2011) and a variety of luxurious residential offerings and estate lots. www.puntamita.com.mx
