Must See TV: The Vice Presidential Debate

The Vice Presidential Debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin will be broadcast on Thursday, October 2, beginning at 8 pm. (NOTE: All the announcements have stated 9 pm, but it is 9 pm Eastern Time, which is 8 pm in Puerto Vallarta.)

This Is Gonna Be Good!

Join us to hear Sara Palin explain how Alaska’s proximity to Russia has made her a foreign policy heavyweight!

Thrill to her mastery of economics, as she explains the nuances of the $700 billion rescue package (which was defeated in the House today!)

Learn as she explains how dinosaurs and humans coexisted on earth just 6,000 years ago!

Be awed at her depth on Constitutional Law as she discusses Roe v. Wade (apparently the only Supreme Court case she’s ever heard of.)

This exciting debate, at Washington University in St. Louis, will be moderated by Gwen Ifill, a longtime correspondent and moderator for nationally televised public broadcasting news programs, who is eminently more qualified to be Vice President than Sarah Palin is.

Your local Democrats Abroad Mexico chapter cordially invites you to join us to view this historic debate at the home of Costa Banderas Chapter Chair, Dee Dee Camhi, Iturbide 419, Apt. #1 in downtown Puerto Vallarta (directions below) - and bring a friend who has not yet registered to vote! Forms will be available.

We recommend that you arrive by 7 pm for socializing and light refreshments. Beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks will be served. A $50 peso donation is requested to support our Chapter Get-Out-The-Vote effort (and really, this show will be worth so much more than $50 pesos... don’t miss it!)

Directions to Dee Dee Camhi’s house at Iturbide #419, Apt #1, Colonia Centro

By Car:

From the North
Take the Malecon to Avenida Corona (between Diamante Pacífico and Sergio Bustamante.) Take a left, go up two blocks to Juarez, and take a left onto Juarez. Proceed one block to Aldama. Take a right, and go up the hill to the end. (Be aware that the cars coming down the hill have the right of way, so wait for them to clear before you ascend.)

Go to the top until the road bends to the right (Emilio Carranza.)

*Proceed down Carranza to Iturbide. Park the car somewhere along the street — there are always spaces there. Walk up the hill on Iturbide. My building is on the left (yellow on bottom with buganvillas in planter.)

From the Libramiento
Take a right onto Insurgentes (at the stop light... going left would take you south toward Mismaloya.) Proceed until it turns into Libertad (right after the bridge crossing Rio Cuale.) Turn right onto Matamoros. Proceed down Matamoros to Iturbide and take a right. Iturbide is a very steep hill, so if you think it is too steep, proceed one more block to Mina. Then follow the directions* above.

On Foot:

At Iturbide (where the Buffet Planeta Vegetariano is - 1/2 block north of the Catedral de Guadalupe,) take the steps up two and a half more streets. Pass Matamoros, Miramar, Emilio Carranza. My building is on the left (yellow on bottom with buganvillas in planter.)

By Taxi:

Tell the driver you want to go to the corner of Iturbide and Emilio Carranza. Then have him turn up the hill half a block to #419.
