For more information, or to become a member of the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad Mexico, please visit DemocratsAbroad.org

Democrats Abroad Mexico is the official organization of the Democratic Party in Mexico. Mexico has seven chapters: Lake Chapala, Metropolitan Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Mazatlan, Veracruz, Young Democrats in Mexico City, and Costa Banderas.

With country committees and local chapters in over 80 countries around the world, Democrats Abroad is the official Democratic Party organization for the millions of Americans living outside the United States.

Democrats Abroad:

• Keeps Americans abroad informed on political issues and developments, through regular meetings, educational programs, special events, and newsletters;

• Lobbies the White House, Congress, and state governments on issues of concern to Americans residing abroad, including national and international issues;

• Motivates and registers voters, provides absentee ballot assistance, and organizes primary voting for Americans abroad;
• Elects and sends a voting delegation to the Democratic National Convention;

• Elects eight members to the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Party's governing body in Washington, DC.

First organized in November 2007, the Costa Banderas Chapter of Mexico Democrats Abroad now counts more than 200 members. The chapter represents US citizens residing in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, as well as in the emerging, new gringo "colonies" located just to the north of the well-known tourist resort in the state of Nayarit.

Democrats Abroad is a non-profit association. For more information, or to become a member of the Costa Banderas Chapter, please visit DemocratsAbroad.org or contact one of the Bay of Banderas' local officers: Dee Dee Camhi, Chair at rdcamhi(at)mac.com; Larry Canady, Vice Chair at pvlar1(at)gmail.com; or Paul Crist, Media Chair at paulcrist(at)hotel-mercurio.com.

Paul Krugman’s 4-step analysis of the meltdown is (no surprise) right on. He’s an economist with amazing intelligence and the unique ability to simplify the explanation so any non-economist can understand it.

Obama's Governing Philosophy
Paul Crist

Last week, Barack Obama gave a major policy speech in Colorado on the economy and financial sector regulation. As I was listening, I began to hear something unarticulated, yet clear to anyone with an ear for it.

Paul Crist

Because voting from Mexico takes more time and effort than most voters back in the 50 states have to endure, those of us living here have to focus on the political choices before us now, even before the confetti is fully swept up in Denver and St. Paul.
