Evangelina Sánchez and her husband Margarito Larios, proprietors of the beautiful River Café, located in the Old Vallarta area where the two branches of the Río Cuale encircle the land known as the Río Cuale Island, are hosting the second Becas Breakfast of the season on Wednesday, December 10 beginning at 9:30 am.

Eva and Margarito, are not only known for their high quality cuisine and the excellence of their wait staff, but for their generous contributions to the community of Puerto Vallarta and its environs. There is hardly an event staged that is not partly sponsored by these two indefatigable workers for the betterment of the people of this area.

A quick, "Por Supuesto" (of course) was their answer when asked to host the Becas Breakfast. They are planning a delicious breakfast of coffee or tea, sweet breads made in house, fresh squeezed orange juice and the choice of Chilaquiles, Omelets with cheese and mushrooms or Shrimp Crepes. Doesn't that make you hungry just reading about it?

During the breakfast, Becas supporters will sell raffle tickets to the diners for incredible prizes donated by outstanding businesses, artisans and artists, including prizes from Andale, Archi's Wok, bANANaCANtiNA, BarrioSur, Botanical Gardens, Café Catedral, Casa Isabel, Cassandra Shaw Jewelry, Coco's Kitchen-Barrio Sur, Daiquiri Dick's, June Rosen Lopez Jewelry, La Piazetta Ristorante, La Palapa, Lucy's CuCu Cabaña, Marcelo Mico Pilates, Memo's The Pancake House, Ocean Friendly Tours, Primivera Nursery, River Café, Tonys Please, Xocodiva Artisan Chocolates and more to be announced.

Bring your checkbooks for the silent auction featuring original paintings by two internationally acclaimed artists from Mexico, Federico de la Vega and Jesús "Tellosa" Botello Sanchez.

While you are having a fabulous breakfast, perhaps winning a valuable prize or adding an outstanding painting to your collection, you will be helping to insure that Vallarta's bright, but economically challenged young people will be able to get the education they deserve. Remember, Becas is funding the junior high, senior high and university educations of almost 300 students and with your help we can continue to add to that number. Find out more about this fabulous organization at AmericaMexicoFoundation.com.

You can buy your $150 peso tickets from any Becas member or by calling me at (322) 223-1371 or writing me at phvicars(at)gmail.com. Last month's breakfast at Coco's Kitchen-BarrioSur was a complete sellout - so don't wait until the last minute to buy yours. You won't want to miss this event of friendship and good eating! See you there?
