Bliss, an art exhibition featuring the works of Benazir Braae and Edith Orozco, opens at Sol y Luna Contemporary Art on March 11 from 6 to 10 pm with a cocktail reception and hors d'oeuvres provided by JapaNice and Caio Tres restaurants.

After a career of modeling and acting from an early age, Benazir Braae decided to leave the glitter and paparazzi and commit herself to a more spiritual lifestyle which lead her back to her roots ... art.

Benazir was fortunate to grow up surrounded by the smell of oil paint, ready canvases, abundant materials of the art studio, having had a painter for a father. For her, she says, art doesn't feel like a matter of choice, but simply an acknowledgement of what was already written on her destiny.

After modeling and acting from an early age, she committed her self to art, as she finally found what she was longing for. You already said this in the first paragraph. No need to duplicate it.

Since a series of solo art exhibitions in 2005 Benazir moved to India, working there in her studio during 2006-07. This worldly artist has exhibited in galleries and various venues in Denmark, Mexico and India, including the State Gallery of Fine Arts in Chitramayee, Hyderabad.

In her two-person show at Sol y Luna Contemporary, Benazir focuses on Hindu deities such as Buddha, Lakshmi and Krishna in paintings which are adorned by pasted jewels to create a rich and dazzling effect. This work is an expression of a meditative and peaceful state of mind which the artist likes to call Bliss.

After living several years in India, Benazir absorbed the Indian culture and various religions. The most prevalent of these is Hinduism, a colorful religion with a vast array of gods and goddesses. This ancient influence has had an obvious and impressive effect in her unique paintings as well on the lifestyle of the artist herself.

Here for her third show at Sol y Luna is Edith Orozco, a talented young sculptor whose family has been working with paper mache for three generations. She has re-invented the traditional techniques to manifest her own vision, that of chimeras or otherwise morphed humans seemingly in process of change. Looking at Edith's work, one assumes it to be carved wood or bronze with colorful patinas, but these sculptures are as light as the proverbial feather.

From the words of Alan McLane: "Edith's sculptures are sensuality in frozen motion." Her technique of flowing colors allows the viewer to see through a woman's eyes a new horizon, an imaginary landscape. The Bliss is evident not only in the joy this artist derives from bringing these fanciful beings to life, but on the faces of art lovers who experience them in the gallery.

The Bliss Art Exhibition inaugurates on Wednesday, March 11 from 6 to 10 pm with a Cocktail Reception and hors d'oeuvre offered by the prime neighboring restaurants "JapaNice" and Caio Tres. Come meet the artists and enjoy a different experience in art exhibitions!
