Stars Shine on Puerto Vallarta on June 20

Puerto Vallarta's world famous Malecón is the place to be on Saturday, June 20th at 8 pm, as the Jalisco Secretary of Tourism presents "Jalisco en Vivo 2009" a free concert featuring world-famous, award-winning musical artists such as Alejandro Fernández, Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Joan Sebastian, Raúl di Blasio, Aleks Syntek, Luis Fonsi, León Polar, Gianmarco, David Bisbal, Noel, Coti, Belanova, Fanny Lu, Sandoval, Ha*Ash y María José, and others. The same concert will also be presented in Guadalajara on June 27th.
These outdoor concerts are part of Mexico's $92 million dollar "Vive México" tourism stimulus plan, designed to reverse recent negative publicity about Mexico and its subsequent impact on tourism.
In recent months, Puerto Vallarta's tourism industry has been pummeled by sensationalistic media reports of drug-related violence in Mexico, (which does exist in some border towns hundreds of miles from here,) followed by the swine flu scare, which, despite the fact that there were only 6 confirmed cases in the area, delivered a knock-out punch to the local economy.
As one of Mexico's most popular beach vacation destinations, Puerto Vallarta is home to thousands of wonderful people who depend on tourism, and, with an anticipated attendance in excess of 20,000 people, this free seaside concert of international superstars is an important step in luring visitors back to our wonderful city by the sea.
Organized and hosted by Jalisco Tourism Ambassador Alejandro Fernández, who is one of the most popular Mexican singers in the world today, this free concert is just one of an ongoing series of events designed to bring tourists back to Puerto Vallarta - and a musical extravaganza that you won't want to miss.
The "Jalisco en Vivo 2009" concert, scheduled for June 20th at 8 pm on Puerto Vallarta's beautiful Malecón, is open to the public and free of charge, so plan to get there early for ringside seats.
