There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. So we've put together a brief overview of some of this week's news headlines from local Spanish language publications, and added some upcoming events you won't want to miss.

"Queer" is Here

Quimera Ediciones is an gay editorial agency which mostly publishes articles about sexual diversity very different from anything else. Their publications are aimed on themes that interest mainly the gay community.

"QE" publishes books with a genre that could be described as a fantasy, poetry and novel all in one. Quimera Ediciones has now made it to Puerto Vallarta and you can find their best seller Queer at La Casa del Libro, located at 31 de Octubre #159 in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

PV Public Transportation Rate Increase

Jalisco Governor Emilio Gonzalez Marquez announced this past week that starting January 2010 public transportation rates will increase. He stated that they have been planning to increase rates for the past year but due to the economic problems Puerto Vallarta has experienced they have not yet done so.

The exact date when this will take place has not been released yet. According to the mayor they will wait to revisit the issue in January and will determine the amount of the raise as well as the date when the increase will begin.

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines

Jalisco’s classic car club has invited more that 100 of its members to participate in the Second Annual Classic Car Club Convention, which is taking place in Puerto Vallarta through October 24th.

Members of the car club met in Guadalajara and are driving down as a caravan to Puerto Vallarta. The convention's inauguration, which began on October 22nd at the Hotel Buenaventura, will continue until October 24th when the exhibition and contests will take place. Look out for these classic vehicles if you are in the city this weekend.
