There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. So we've put together a brief overview of some of this week's news headlines from local Spanish language publications, and added some upcoming events you won't want to miss.

Better than Winter 2008

The director of ADEPROTUR (Tourism department) assured things will change during this upcoming winter months. He stated that even though the "health problems" in Mexico as well as economic problems in the states may continue, they have complete faith that the money they have invested will be worth it.

The tourism department announced that they have higher expectations for this year than last year's "High Season", the reason being that most of the people who were not able to come in the summer will take advantage of the winter months.

Tigers in Vallarta

For the first time in many years the tigers came back to Puerto Vallarta. Last Sunday the popular Mexican group Los Tigres Del Norte made their comeback to PV. Los Tigres Del Norte are an icon in Mexican music and played live in Las Mojoneras (about 25 minutes north of PV) for all their fans to see.

Los Tigres are touring the country promoting their new album "La Granja" which talks about situations common to most Mexican nationals. A great number of fans turned out to welcome back Los Tigres Del Norte.

Say No to Piracy

Everywhere around the world, and especially in Mexico piracy is pretty common, from DVD's and CD's to purses or glasses. But who has heard of pirate transportation? In various cities in Nayarit the local and federal police have found quite a few "choferes piratas".

These are "taxi drivers" who are not licensed by the government and will generally have lower rates than most other taxi drivers. The Nayarit government would like to advise all of it inhabitants as well as its visitors that even thought their rates might be lower it is not 100% safe to ride with these "pirate drivers" and should be avoided if possible.
