There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. So we've put together a brief overview of some of this week's news headlines from local Spanish language publications, and added some upcoming events you won't want to miss.

National Market is Key

Fideicomiso Director Miguel Gonzalez Gonzalez assured that, at least in the books, Puerto Vallarta is expecting a great closing to this year. He then added that even though we are expecting a great number of international visitors, our national market is what has kept the port alive over the past few months.

Mexican nationals made up about 50% of the tourism that came to PV in 2009, and because of that fact there will be more money spent on national advertisement for the upcoming years.

Virgin Mary Celebration

Every year without exception, hundreds of Catholics all over Mexico unite to hold a celebration in honor of the Virgin Mary. Puerto Vallarta will not be an exception to that. The most notable day of the festivities will be December 11th, which will start off with "Las Mañanitas" (birthday song) at exactly 12:00 midnight and the celebration will continue until 10 am the following day.

This will all take place inside La Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, (Our Lady of Guadalupe) the landmark church in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

Peter Greenberg Scheduled to Visit Vallarta

CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg, one of the most influential voices in the travel industry will be visiting the Banderas Bay area starting next weekend. The main reason for his visit is to host his live program from Punta Mita. This is wonderful news for the Riviera Nayarit.

Greenberg can be heard via over 150 media sources in the United States and his visit to the region is sure to make his audience eager to visit the Banderas Bay area, especially Punta Mita, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Sayulita, and San Pancho, which are the locations Mr. Greenberg will be visiting.
