Sol y Luna Gallery is Alive and Well

Located at Josephina Ortiz de Dominquez 155-A, El Centro, Galeria Sol y Luna is open Mondays through Saturdays 10 am until 8 pm and open Wednesday evenings until 10 pm during the Vallarta Art Walk.
Galería Sol y Luna continues to offer outstanding art by accomplished international and national artists. The founder and owner Alejandro Báez passed away last year, leaving behind a legacy of his artistic vision. With a vast variety of techniques, mediums, sizes, and palettes, he arranged the atmospheres of Sol y Luna Galleries to be places of wonder, with fresh exciting talent showcased along with accomplished artists.

For the three years that he directed and curated the gallery, Alejandro successfully brought to Puerto Vallarta a group of original and renowned national and international artists. Openings were cultural events that might include an Aztec dancer, shamanic blessings, an opera singer, or poetry, and hundreds of art patrons passed through its doors, receiving a warm welcome from the featured artist, Alejandro and his staff.

Now the gallery continues this legacy under the direction of Jesus Barajas. The brilliant patterns and colors of well-respected international artists Don Quade and Sushe Felix and the mystical creations of Ramon Ramirez are just a sampling of the 40 artists that Sol y Luna represents. Jesus will keep the gallery open during the summer months for those who wish to have an exquisite taste of some of the foremost contemporary artists represented in Mexico.

In an interview with Alejandro at the end of the 2008-2009 High Season, he said, "I like to celebrate the fact that in my life I have true love!" He might have been referring to personal relationships or he might have been referring to his love of art and his love of beauty to give to the world. His love still flourishes in the gallery that was his life's work.

Located at Josephina Ortiz de Dominquez 155-A, El Centro, Galeria Sol y Luna is open Mondays through Saturdays 10 am until 8 pm and open Wednesdays until 10 pm during the Viejo Vallarta Art Walk. The next season will begin with the tradition that Alejandro valued of a spectacular altar and a group exhibition to celebrate and honor Dia de los Muertos.

Come by and enjoy the vision that is Alejandro's legacy to the community of Puerto Vallarta!
