Some of the 300 scholarship students you will help change their lives through education by attending the 2010 Becas Ball and bidding on the fabulous Silent Auction Items donated by generous artists, craftsmen and business people of Puerto Vallarta.

Generous and fun loving patrons at last year's Becas Ball

three night stay in Casa Encantata in historic Patzcuaro will be featured in the Silent Auction.
Having fun while doing good, was the fantastic combination that was afforded to the more than three hundred glamorous and generous Vallartenses who attended the March 6, 2008 Becas Ball. The Who's Who of the area mingled to the music of Vallarta's own Los Bambinos during the opening complimentary cocktail hour where the prevailing mood reflected happiness, generosity, friendship, magnanimity, joy and, yes, magic.

I wrote that two years ago after the 2008 Becas Ball and those words keep coming back as I sit down to write about this year’s Becas Ball. Indeed, on March 11, 2010 Vallarta’s Who’s Who will gather again and I guarantee the mood will once again reflect the generosity, joy and here I go again, the magic of this Paradise by the Sea.

The Ball, "Fete du Nuít" (Festival of the Night), begins at 6:30 pm at Club Regina in the Marina in the beautiful patio area on the shores of our Bay of Banderas. As always you can enjoy a complimentary Margarita Hour while Los Bambinos play for your enjoyment. Then at 8:00 pm you will move to the dining area for a gourmet sit down dinner accompanied by white and red wine, compliments of Trios Restaurants and author and staunch Becas supporter Ingé Lökös.

The fabulous Grupo Odisea from Ciudad Guzman is back by popular demand and will play and entertain for your dining and dancing pleasure throughout the evening. There will be no live auction, but an extensive silent auction of incredible items such as a Laliche Bird Vase with a value of $1000 USD, stays in exotic locals across Mexico including La Casa Encantada in historic Patzcuaro and in PV’s own Hacienda San Angel, fine original sculptures by Carole Turner and Dana O’Donnell who were featured at the recent Puerto Vallarta International Sculpture Symposium, golf twosomes at Club Punta de Mita, dinners in 5 star restaurants and more.

There will be fantastic door prizes which only require you to be there! The first door prize, donated by Nino Foppiani of Mexico City, is an exquisite pearl, diamond and white gold bracelet fit for a princess. The second door prize, donated by Ron Morgan of ADLB International/Timothy Fuller & Associates, is a week-end in his unique Casa Des Artistes Condominium in Molino de Agua and the third and fourth door prizes, donated El Coyul Licorería, are four bottles of Petillant Brut Champagne each.

Because Becas Vallarta has no paid staff, no office or office equipment, no telephone nor other accouterments, almost every peso and dollar received goes directly toward the 300 scholarships we are funding this school year.

Since the beginning in the early 1960's, thousands, yes thousands, of bright, young Vallartenses have reached their educational goals because you volunteered your time and money, came to Becas Breakfasts, bought raffle tickets, advertised in the Newsletter, became a Compadre and attended the Becas Balls! Now you have a chance to see that more deserving young people will get their chance at a better life through education.

Come to the 2010 Becas Ball, buy some of the incredible items on the Silent Auction, make a direct donation, become our 15th Becas Compadre.

We can’t take credit cards, but will take your personal check, dollars or pesos. To get your Ball tickets at only $850 pesos each, please call President Mariel de Fregoso at (322) 221-0789 or me at 223-1371. Don’t be the one who misses this glorious event because you waited until the tickets were all gone - call today and I’ll see you at the ball!
