The celebrated Russian State Ballet is returning to Teatro Vallarta for a one-night-only performance of The Nutcracker on Wednesday, December 8th at 8:30 pm.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – It was announced today that the celebrated Russian State Ballet will be returning to Puerto Vallarta performing Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker for one night only, Wednesday, December 8th at 8:30 pm, in Vallarta’s beautiful new performing arts venue Teatro Vallarta.

Tickets are $420 Pesos to $520 Pesos. Children under 12 receive a 30% discount. Tickets are available at the theatre’s box office Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm. Teatro Vallarta is located in El Centro at Uruguay 184, just south of Ley’s grocery store on the main street as you enter downtown.

The Russian State Ballet is a classical ballet company based at the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The company was founded in 1978 by graduates of the choreographic schools of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg. Banderas Bay is fortunate to have this popular company returning performing this holiday favorite.

The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky's adaptation of the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E. T. A. Hoffmann was commissioned by the director of the Imperial Theatre’s Ivan Vsevolozhsky in 1891. The original production was staged on December 18, 1892.

In Western countries, The Nutcracker has become perhaps the most popular of all ballets, performed primarily during the Christmas season. In the United States, especially since the 1960s, it has transcended its origins as a mere ballet or piece of classical music, becoming a part of American tradition. Now we can enjoy this holiday treat right here in the tropics!

For years, locals have been yearning for a state-of-the-art performance space that could handle world-class touring productions. With the announcement of The Russian State Ballet, expats, local nationals and visitors alike can now enjoy top productions without having to travel.

Come support the arts in Banderas Bay and purchase your tickets today to The Russian State Ballet. While you are there, make sure to purchase tickets to Fandango; Teatro Vallarta’s vivid celebration of Mexican culture.

Additional information can be found on the theatre's website, TeatroVallarta.com.
