Everyone had a blast at the 5th Annual Pet Picnic. Over 40 canines and close to 100 humans partied on the patio at Daiquiri Dick's restaurant on December 4, 2010.

"I've come every year," says George Gray, a dog lover, "Misty, my poodle, loves to be here with the other pets and it's such a good cause, we're thrilled to be here and be a part of it. I think it is one of the most important charitable functions in PV."

"This is amazing," says Mary Jacobs, "All of the dogs are so well behaved and they're getting along really well, the costumes are phenomenal, it's a pretty incredible event, I didn't expect to see it here."

Local celebrity Sol Rose belted out some animal tunes to get everyone in the mood. The pet picnic featured plenty of doggie bags and a boxed lunch for their pals, a raffle with over 50 prizes, a Best Trained Contest and the crowd favorite, Cutest Costume. This year it included a police lady, a baker and frilly outfits. Audience applause chose the baker and chili pepper tied for first place.

Around $20 thousand pesos were raised for Ayuda a los Animals, part of the PEACE non-profit association. Their mobile, high volume, spay and neuter clinics travel all over the Bay of Banderas curbing the companion animal population. They also provide pet education programs, adoptions and vet services. For more information, visit their website, PeaceMexico.org.

Daiquiri Dick's contemporary design exudes a quiet elegance that invites relaxation, and its tropical location at Olas Altas 314 on Los Muertos Beach offers the perfect atmosphere for enjoying spectacular views of Banderas Bay. For reservations call (322) 222-0566. For more information, visit DDPV.com.
