Daiquiri Dick’s & Becas Vallarta:
  A Fabulous Combination

email this pageprint this pageemail us

Becas supporters will gather at Daiquiri Dick’s beachfront restaurant at 9:30 am on Wednesday, January 19, for this season's third Becas Breakfast. Daiquiri Dick’s, one of Vallarta’s oldest and best restaurants, has been the purview of Tari and Peter Bowman for almost 30 years.

The Bowmans had vacationed in PV several times and enjoyed dining at Daiquiri Dick’s. When they found the restaurant was for sale, they made a decision to buy this restaurant, return to the Bay Area of California to sell their home and businesses, pack up their two children and move to this paradise by the sea. (On our first visit to PV, after only three days, Husband and I made up our minds to do the same.)

Tari and Peter have adopted the Mexican Way, learned the Spanish language and taught whole families to be chefs and restauranteurs. Their children are now grown with lives of their own. Peter and Tara continue to innovate to keep their restaurant at the top of the heap with diners from all over the world who enjoy the concoctions of Executive Chef Ignacio Uribe Moreno.

Chef Uribe started to work at Daiquiri Dick’s at the age of 16 and has worked his way up with his unique combinations and beautiful presentations. He has wisely kept the ‘fish on a stick’ that was the trade mark of the old Daiquiri Dick’s.

Manager, Hnoi Latthitham, keeps the atmosphere of eating in a friend’s home that Tari and Peter want with the staff seeing to every need and giving that little extra care that is so typical of Vallartenses.

Becas Vallarta is proud to have the annual support of this popular restaurant and invites you to join us there for the Becas Breakfast. These monthly breakfasts have yielded the wherewithal to pay for hundreds of scholarships for Puerto Vallarta young people of great ability and small economic resources. For your pleasure and to add to the coffers, we will have a raffle of incredible prizes donated by local businesses and private donors and a Silent Auction of great treasures.

The menu has something for everyone: Coffee, Orange Juice, Choice of Chilaquiles with Grilled Chicken and Black Beans or Scrambled Eggs with Ham and Home Fries or French Toast with Caramelized Apples and Raisins.

The friendly and efficient wait staff at Daiquiri Dick’s are waiting to serve you with a smile. We are waiting for your call or email for tickets at the low price of $150 pesos. Every Becas Breakfast has been a sell-out so don’t be left out! Call me at (322) 223-1371 or 044-322-182-0215 or email me at phvicars(at)gmail.com or call any of our Becas members. But call!

Polly G. Vicars and her husband of almost 60 years, Hubert (a.k.a. "Husband") retired to Puerto Vallarta in 1988 and soon became active members of several charitable organizations. Polly is the author of "Tales of Retirement in Paradise: Life in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico" [a sell-out!] and "More Tales of Retirement in Puerto Vallarta and Around the World." Proceeds from the sale of her books go to the America-Mexico Foundation, a scholarship foundation that is their passion.
