The Third Annual Carnaval Parade was wildly successful, according to organizers. Held on March 5, 2011 and starting at 10 pm, around 50 entries and thousands of spectators lined the streets in Old Town Puerto Vallarta for the colorful event. The carnival atmosphere lasted well into the early morning hours.

In addition to a dazzling performance by award winning singer and songwriter Kim Kuzma, who wowed the crowd with her amazing voice, there were prancing girls and guys, fire dancers, floats, decorated vehicles, and crazy costumes. The whole event was organized by a committee of volunteers and both visditors and locals were truly delighted by the spectacle.

The parade route started at the western corner of Ignacio Vallarta and Carranza, turned left on to Olas Altas, then west on Rodolfo Gomez to Amapas. From there, participants turned on both Pulpito and Pilitas streets before heading back down Olas Altas in the opposite direction. After turning east on Basilio Badillo to the corner of Constitución the parade concluded.

Puerto Vallarta is relatively new on the Carnaval/Mardi Gras party scene and many hope this tradition continues to expand in the future. It is just one of the treats during spring time in Puerto Vallarta.
