Splurge Art Gallery Celebrates Earth Day

April 6, 2011

On April 22, 2011 from 5-10 pm, Splurge Art Gallery will host an Earth Day Gala to showcase the works of eight talented marine photographers from the United States and Mexico.

Bucerias, Nayarit, Mexico - For the month of April, The Earth Day Network, in association with Splurge Art Gallery in Bucerķas, Mexico, will highlight Earth Day - a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment.

Each year, Earth Day (April 22nd) marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in the United States, which was started in the 1970s. The most impressive thing about this movement was its grass roots origin. Earth Day had no central governing body and simply grew on its own; an event now celebrated in more than 175 countries.

On April 22, 2011 from 5-10 pm, Splurge Art Gallery will host an Earth Day Gala to showcase the works of eight talented marine photographers from the United States and Mexico. Proceeds of this special event will be used to raise awareness of the environmental impact felt in the Bay of Banderas and its ecological fragility.

This year we are highlighting a special awareness towards marine life. 72% of the Earth's surface is covered in water, but most people can name only a few aquatic species. Life underwater is immensely diverse, with many beautiful and unusual creatures and "critters". Photographs of the most beautiful and unique "critters" found in our very own Bay of Banderas (Riviera Nayarit) will be on display and for sale.

Come discover and purchase some of these beautifully framed photographs! Not only will you enjoy these incredible works of art for years to come, you will help make sure our Bay of Banderas is protected from harm.

We invite you to be a part of Splurge Earth Day (Splearth Day!) Photographs will be for sale from April 21st til June 8th, 2011 (World Oceans Day).
