April 5, 2011
Don't miss the season's last Southside Shuffle, on Basilio Badillo and Constitucion in the Romantic Zone, this Friday, April 8th from 6 to 10 pm. (Video Diva Productions)

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Friday Southside Shuffle, on Basilio Badillo and Constitucion, has been a popular bi-monthly event in the Romantic Zone. The city's "beautification" project has made great progress and the wider sidewalks make it easier for walking.

You will find why this has been one of the best shopping streets in Vallarta for more than 20 years. The shops and galleries include Galeria Contempo with a fine collection of contemporary Latin American art. Moving north you come to Ponciana, Serafina, and Sirena... three shops featuring some of the finest textiles, ethnic clothing, and artisanal in Vallarta. Further up the street is Cassandra Shaw's and her unique collection of original jewelry.

On the north side of Basilio Badillo is Galleria Dante, Vallarta’s largest gallery and the first art gallery on the street, which has undoubtedly one of the finest collections of both paintings and sculpture in Vallarta. Every two weeks they open a new exhibit by two featured artists. On April 8th the gallery will be welcoming Jalisco artists Ignacio Guerrero and David Zepeda Moreno with a cocktail reception from 6–10 pm.

Further north is A Touch of Gold featuring a fabulous collection of fine jewelry. You can stop at Roberto's Puerto Nuevo restaurant for a free margarita and enjoy the discounts on his delicious dinner menu. Go on to Lucy's Cucu Cabaña for a collection of folk art from Oaxaca and other parts of Mexico plus Gil Given's famous and really funny books.

At the end of the street turn left on Constitution to find La Bohemia contemporary resort wear for the best in tropical clothing, jewelry, and accessories. Next door is Galeria Puerco Azul known for one-of-a-kind folk art pieces, vintage Mexican clothing, and the wonderful paintings and prints of Lencho, the famous Vallarta artist and illustrator.

Last but not least is the Banderas Bay Trading Company that features an incredible selection of furniture, fixtures and antiques from the collection of Peter Bowman, an internationally recognized interior designer.

All along the way you can stop for a cocktail and dance to the music of our fabulous Norteñana band. Don't miss this season's last Southside Shuffle this Friday, April 8th from 6 to 10 pm. Come for a good time - but please watch your step!
