Interior designer Greg Wolfson, who created the sets for "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," as well as dozens of other TV shows and films, answers questions about home decor and design.

Dear Mr. Wolfson,

I think you did an EXCELLENT job with The Fresh Prince of Belair set design, especially the latter season. It is truly my all-time favorite design. The set was very warm and inviting. The lighting was great! I even appreciated the style of the original living room set which was of a darker brown tone.

If possible, I would sincerely appreciate if you could send me the name of the manufacturer of the white, pillow back sofa, or others with similar style that are reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, I tend to have a hard time finding anything that really grabs my attention. I come across things that are in the general area of what I want, but seldom having a "that's it" experience. As I am trying to beautify my home and narrow down the living room set, I realized that this sofa was my "that's it" sofa!

Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you sincerely for your time. I wish you well and continued success. God bless!

Sincerely,
Sesi Asamoa

Dear Sesi;

As a Set Decorator, and as an Interior Designer, I get questions like this all the time. And, unfortunately, the answer is usually "I had this piece custom made." Additionally, most furniture manufacturers put out new pieces every season, just like fashion designers do, so it is very hard to order exactly the piece you see on TV or in a magazine.

My best advice to you is, take a photograph of the sofa to the fabric store with you, and price out the best version of the fabric you want the sofa to be made in. Most mid-to-large cities have a fabric district where you can also shop and find a wide array of fabrics at severe discounts.

Next stop, a local upholsterer. Either look in your yellow pages, or do a Google search. Most upholsterers will craft a sofa for you off of a photograph, and to the dimensions that would fit your home perfectly. I have often found the best quality, and most reliable service from car upholsterers!

I hope this advice will help you with your "aha" piece of furniture. Thanks for the compliments as well!

Best,
Greg
