Botanical Gardens Mexico Matters Campaign
email this pageprint this pageemail us
July 6, 2011

In April, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board appointed Thomas Dale & Associates to study the safety standards found in Puerto Vallarta. The report concluded that Vallarta continues to be amongst the safest beach vacation destinations for international tourists.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - We at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens have just started a campaign to counter all the anti-Mexico media hype. Please check out our petition below and sign it if you agree! (It takes less than 1 minute.) Pass it along to your friends too, please.

We feel that the reputation and image of Mexico is under attack by a negative corporate media campaign focusing almost exclusively on drug violence and U.S. immigration issues. Relentless coverage of these problems is only increasing xenophobia, stoking racism, polarizing politicians, ruining international commerce and imperiling the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico.

The world needs to hear the positive news of Mexico — which vastly eclipses the negative in relevance though not in coverage — to inspire these countries to work together to solve their mutual problems.

We are circulating a petition to send to Roger Ailes, President of the Fox News Channel, Ken Jautz, President of CNN-US, Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC and Anne Sweeney, President of ABC News. It reads as follows:

"Moderate the U.S. media's sensationalist and damaging reporting on Mexico to promote a healthier relationship between these important neighboring countries."

Thanks!
