Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Everyone dreams of living in the tropics. The weather is wonderful, the ocean breeze is always blowing and the sun is always shining, but if you are moving to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from the United States or Canada, you have to decorate your house in a different way.

The humidity is always high and temperatures range from warm to hot. This combination is tough on furniture, especially since most people keep their houses open to the elements year-round.

"The best fabrics to use are 100 percent cotton and linen," says Javier Rodríguez Azpilcueta, an Estate Agent with Timothy Real Estate Group, "They are so important because they are so easy to clean, we just wash them and dry them."

Cotton and linen are soft, durable and smooth to the touch. They also offer breathability, the small spaces within the material allow air to flow through it.

"It's really important to have cases done for your pillows so all you have to do is take them off and put them in the washer and dryer," says Javier. "And when dry, place the pillows back inside the case and simply put them on your furniture again."

"One of the main differences when decorating in the tropics is that you can take the material right off of your sofa or chairs," says Javier. "And that's good because you can just wash it and put it back on the furniture."

Perspiring is a part of tropical life and with slip covers it's super easy to put you best seat forward. Plus it's a cinch to transform the look of your place just by adding an extra set and mixing up the colors.

"There is a wide variety of fabrics to choose," says Javier. "The styles range from neutral to wild tropical and in Mexico there are a lot of opportunities to have them custom made."

A stunning condominium is the perfect show place for your new, tropical lifestyle.

"Avalon is one of the most incredible architectural properties in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico," says Javier, "The floor plan is really wide and open."

The floor to ceiling glass doors completely retract to reveal stunning ocean and city panoramas. Let any of the agents assist you with selecting your own personal paradise.
