The celebrated Russian State Ballet is returning to Teatro Vallarta for a one-night-only performance of The Nutcracker on Saturday, November 12 at 8:30 pm.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The celebrated Russian State Ballet "Mari El" will be returning to Puerto Vallarta performing Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker for one night only, Saturday, November 12, 8:30 pm, in Vallarta’s beautiful performing arts venue Teatro Vallarta.

Tickets are $350 Pesos for general seating and $550 Pesos for preferred seating and are now available through Ticketmaster, at the Ticketmaster Outlet in Galleries Vallarta Mall (across for the cruise terminal) and at the theatre’s box office Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm. Teatro Vallarta is located in El Centro at Uruguay 184, just south of LEY’S grocery store on the main street as you enter downtown.

Currently touring Mexico with stops in more than 20 cities, the Russian State Ballet "Mari El" is part of the Opera and Ballet Theater Sapaev. The soloists are winners of many important international awards and include Konstantin Korotkov, Olga Chelpanov, Saori Koike, Egor Motuzov. They are all from the most important schools and faculties of choreographic art in Kazan, Moscow, Leningrad, Novosibirsk and Perm.

Banderas Bay is fortunate to have this popular company returning performing this holiday favorite. The performance will feature 30 dancers set among lavish sets with costumes weighing in total more than 2 tons.

The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky's adaptation of the story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" by E. T. A. Hoffmann was commissioned by the director of the Imperial Theatre’s Ivan Vsevolozhsky in 1891. The original production was staged on December 18, 1892.

In Western countries, The Nutcracker has become perhaps the most popular of all ballets, performed primarily during the Christmas season. In the United States, especially since the 1960s, it has transcended its origins as a mere ballet or piece of classical music, becoming a part of American tradition. Now we can enjoy this holiday treat right here in the tropics!

For years, locals have been yearning for a state-of-the-art performance space that could handle world-class touring productions. With the announcement of The Russian State Ballet "Mari El," expats, local nationals and visitors alike can now enjoy top productions without having to travel. Come support the arts in Banderas Bay and purchase your tickets today to The Russian State Ballet "Mari El."
