In keeping with the philosophy of "make it, bake it, grow it," the Puerto Vallarta Old Town Farmers Market - Tianguis Cultural - is "a producer only" market.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In keeping with the philosophy of "make it, bake it, grow it," the Old Town Farmers Market - Tianguis Cultural - is "a producer only" market. All of the products there are made, baked, grown and sold by vendors living within 50 kilometers of Puerto Vallarta. Now in its' third season, the market provides local fresh farm produce, artisan foods, hand-made crafts, jewelry, clothing, community education, and live entertainment to locals and tourists from the entire Bay of Banderas region.

The Old Town Farmers Market has fast become one of Puerto Vallarta's most compelling weekend attractions. Here you can meet new friends, say hello to old ones, talk directly to the producers, buy great products, support the local economy, and take part in activities for the whole family.

As you approach the market from the corner of V. Carranza and Pino Suarez you will spot the booth of Kathryn Graves and the "Color Pod". What a clever idea, making the most of raw materials from Mother Nature! Kathryn was inspired one day while living in Cancun where she took home a coconut pod, painted it and displayed it on her coffee table. After getting encouragement from friends, she proceeded to craft these items to sell. The pods serve as a decorative, unbreakable replacement for any type of open container. It can be used for fruit, chips, crackers, dried flowers, or as a wine bottle carrier for an original hostess gift. You can contact Kathryn via email at kathygraves(at)hotmail.com or by phone at 178-2273 or (322)-112-1988.

At the "Cooperative Germinal" booth, you will find Jorge Madrigal and his wife selling natural and herbal products such as honey, bee pollen and royal jelly. They also have agave nectar, an assortment of herbs for medicinal purposes, and brewed herbal tea. This family has been tending bees in El Tuito for 16 years and currently they maintain 22 bee hives. Each hive yields approximately 50 kilos of honey per year. The bees feed on salvia, tejocote, and other flowering shrubs as well as flowers in the melon family. You can contact Jorge via email at germinal14(at)hotmail.com or by phone at 269-0526 or (322)-141-3140.

We invite you to visit us every Saturday from November to May between 9:30 am and 2 pm. Tianguis Cultural is located on Pino Suarez between B. Badillio and V. Carranza in Old Town. Plenty of parking is available across the street in the Lazaro Cardenas parkade. Stop by the market info booth located on the corner of Pino Suarez and B. Badillio and purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a generous basket of products donated by the various vendors. Bring a donation of school supplies and receive a free ticket to the raffle. All proceeds from the raffle go toward projects to help the school.

If you are interested in participating as a vendor, please check out our website at oldtownfm.com, or visit us at the market info booth.
