Puerto Vallarta's Festival Cultural de Mayo 2012

Vallarta's Festival Cultural de Mayo will be inaugurated at Los Arcos del Malecon on May 15th at 8:30 pm, kick-starting 16 days of art and culture.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - From May 15-31st, locals and visitors alike will enjoy sixteen days of rich and constant cultural activity as Puerto Vallarta celebrates the 2012 Festival Cultural de Mayo.

During this time, the streets of downtown Puerto Vallarta will be filled with all kinds of local, national and international artists - musicians, actors, painters, sculptors, etc. - who will showcase their talents and skills in public performances.

An annual celebration, Vallarta's Festival Cultural de Mayo also offers a wide variety of cultural events and activities, including music, dance and theatrical performances, film screenings, photo and art exhibitions, parades, and awe-inspiring firework displays.

Vallarta's May Fest is part of the Festival Cultural de Mayo organized by the Government of Jalisco. Centered in Guadalajara, the event is simultaneously taking place in several other cities of the state with various Canadian dance, music and visual artists participating, and a focus on Quebec's renowned circus arts and street performances.

Here in Puerto Vallarta, over 150 guest artists from around the world will perform at various venues, including Teatro Vallarta, the Centro Cultural Cuale, Plaza Lázaro Cárdenas, the Naval Museum, Galería Uno, the CECATUR auditorium, Bed & Pizza, Los Arcos del Malecón and the Plaza Principal in the city's historic downtown area.

At a recent press conference, Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador González and the city's Culture and Art sub-director Monica Venegas expressed their satisfaction for the in-depth program that's been put together for this year's festival. Click HERE for the full schedule.

Vallarta's Festival Cultural de Mayo will be inaugurated at Los Arcos del Malecon on May 15th at 8:30 pm, kick-starting 16 days of art and culture that will culminate on May 31st with the celebration commemorating the 94th anniversary of the city's founding and its 44th year as a municipality.
