Peter Gray Art Museum to Celebrate 10th Anniversary

November 13, 2012

The primary objective of the museum is to give students throughout the region exposure to art. Here, kids get the opportunity to try their hand at producing artworks under the tutelage of local artists.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - A grand celebration is planned for the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Peter Gray Art Museum on the campus of Centro Universitario de la Costa.

The event will be held at the Museum on Friday, November 30th, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. All are welcome, members and non-members alike, to enjoy complimentary light refreshments and the sounds of a talented Spanish music group while touring an expanded art collection and new museum layout. You'll be impressed!

The Peter Gray Art Museum is a crown jewel in the Puerto Vallarta cultural scene. It was started by Peter in 2002 with the seeding of 16 works of art from his private collection. It has since grown to more than 120 works representing a wide range of style and origin, including works from famous Mexican artists Coronel, Toledo, Cuevas, among others.

The primary objective of the museum is to provide students at CUC and throughout the region with an exposure to art that they might not otherwise experience, particularly if enrolled in technical degree programs. At the other end of the age spectrum, we also host local 4th and 5th graders for guided tours of the museum. As part of their tour the kids get the opportunity to try their hand at producing artworks of their own under the tutelage of local artists. Maybe another Lepe in the making?

The Peter Gray Museum is centrally located on CUC's beautiful campus, a few miles north of the airport. If coming from town, turn right from the main highway just past Home Depot, following the signs towards Ixtapa. Proceed about 1 mile until you see a sign on the highway pointing towards CUC to the right.

After entering the main gate to CUC, parking is available in the main lot on your right. The walk to the Museum is about 100 yards down the main campus walkway sheltered by ficus trees.
