2nd Charro Vallarta National Tournament Starts Jan. 31

Mexican horseman, or charros, will be competing for prizes at the II Charro Vallarta National Tournament which will take place at the ultra-modern Arena Vallarta on January 31st through February 3rd.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The II Charro Vallarta National Tournament will take place from January 31st - February 3rd, with daily competitions and traditional events - a perfect way to enjoy the real Mexico and its traditions.

A local group of Charros have made an extraordinary effort to bring the tournament to the city. The event will feature the best Charro Associations in the country, making this a true celebration of Mexico.

The event will begin on Thursday, January 31st with an opening ceremony scheduled to take place at 3:30 pm. It will take place at Arena Vallarta, an ultra-modern facility that comprises of 10 acres in the town of El Colorado. The handicap accessible arena boasts seating for 5 thousand spectators, public rest rooms, a 600 car parking lot, a commercial area, and stables for the horses. You won't want to miss this!


National Charro Championship Program:

Thursday January 31st

Following the opening ceremony, the first day’s events will start at 4 pm and 7 pm and include the teams:
• Decharros Nuevo Leon
• Rancho El Ayate
• Team Hacienda Tamariz, Puebla
• Charros Hacienda Serena (hosts)

Friday, February 1st

Activities will start at 12 pm featuring:
• Rancho El Quevedeño
• Tamariz Hacienda Puebla
• Camino Real Colima
• San Julián.

At 4 pm events will feature:
• Rancho Las Cuatas of Nayarit
• Rancho Agua Santa A of Jalisco
• Perla de Pacifico Baja California
• Rancho Tres Potrillos from Don Vicente Fernández

The 7:30 pm activities will feature:
• Livestock Santa Isabel from Puebla
• San Jose Charros del Valle, Nayarit
• Teams from the Regional South Federal District


Saturday February 2nd

Teams competing at 12:00 pm include:
• Rancho El Eden, State of Mexico
• Valley of Saltillo, Coahuila
• Tres Regalos Quintana Roo
• Tamaulipas B Team

At 4 pm events will feature:
• Rancho La Biznaga the State of Mexico
• Queretaro Pitayo-Jaralito
• Jalisco State
• National Champion Camotlán Bridge from Don Roberto Tequila Nayarit

The 7:30 pm activities will feature:
• Tamaulipas A
• Dorados Oaxtepec Morelos
• La Palapa's General Jalisco
• Villa Oro Mexico City

Sunday February 3rd

The finals will take place with fourth to sixth place occurring at 12 pm and the top 3 teams competing at 4 pm. At 7:30 pm there will be an equestrian show by Ezequiel "Cheque" Peña.

In regard to social events, on Thursday there will be a festival at the Malecón Arches and on Friday the traditional Maleconeada. There will also be a car raffle held at the Arena.
