Help Toys for Tots Vallarta Deliver Miles of Smiles

January 3, 2012
Over the past 13 years, Toys for Tots Vallarta has distributed more than 100,000 toys to poor children who might otherwise not have received any gifts during the Christmas season.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - When you pass by little children in the poorest neighborhoods around Puerto Vallarta, don't you some times want to reach out and hug them? Just for a moment you really feel you would like to do something to show them the world has a little room in its heart even for them. But you just don't know how to do it...

Well here's the deal that makes it easy for you:

Every year, the popular and now traditional Toys for Tots Vallarta Golf Tournament and Gala Dinner fund raising events are held in mid-December to raise funds to purchase and deliver toys to low income kids on Día de los Reyes (Three Kings Day) which, in Mexico, is celebrated on January 6th - the traditional gift-giving day rather than December 25th.

This holiday season's events raised enough money to purchase at least 7,000 toys to be distributed to the kids on Monday, January 7th, the day after Three Kings Day and the first day back to school from the holiday break.

But first, volunteers will be gathering at the Marriott after the Navy League monthly meeting, on Saturday, January 5th to separate 7,000 toys into about 15 routes. The meeting begins at 11 am and should be over by noon. The work party should be over by about 3 pm or so.

On January 7th at 8:00 am, caravans of volunteers will get together in the parking lot of the Marriott Resort in the Marina to begin loading toys, while enjoying hot beverages and rosca. All are welcome to participate in a fun and rewarding adventure, but since there is limited parking available in the parking lot, if you are not loading toys, please park on adjoining streets.

Once the toys have all been loaded, there will be a brief ceremony before the caravans depart to begin the distribution of toys across the Bahia - from Nayarit to Cabo Corrientes.

Over the past 13 years, more than 100,000 toys have been distributed by Toys for Tots Vallarta, resulting in 100,000 smiles on the faces of kids who might otherwise not have received any gifts during the Christmas season.

If you'd like to join in this unforgettable and incredibly fulfilling experience, contact Bill Clark at (322) 222-3616, or simply show up at the Marriott no later than 8 am for assignment to one of the caravans.
