Popular Malecón Sculpture Walking Tours End April 16

April 2, 2013
We are coming to the conclusion of another successful season for the 'Malecón Sculpture Walking Tour' created and conducted by Galeria Pacifico owner Gary Thompson. The final walk will be held on April 16th

Puerto Vallarta - It has been another successful season for the popular free Malecón Sculpture Walking Tour created and conducted by Galeria Pacifico owner Gary Thompson.

The walks continue weekly through April with the final walk held on Tuesday, April 16th. All walks begin at 9:30 am at the Millennium sculpture in front of the Rosita Hotel. Here sculptor Fernando Banos describes this complex sculpture that he created in 2001.

From there, the tour proceeds along the Malecón, with Gary discussing the sculptures, and Kevin Simpson of Colectika and Payote People Galleries explaining the new Huichol patterns in the cement walk. The tour lasts about 2 hours, ending at Galeria Pacifico where sculptor Jim Demetro explains the complex lost wax process of producing bronze sculptures.

Miniatures of some of the sculptures are on display there along with information about Learn Vallarta and Los Mangos Library, both supporters of these walks. Donations to the library are gratefully accepted. Sculpture information fliers and complimentary cold beverages will be offered.
