Eat & Greet at Vallarta's Old Town Farmers' Market

April 12, 2013

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - At the Old Town Farmers' Market, there is a wealth of "make it, bake it, grow it" treasures to be found at every turn. In fact, you "eat and greet" at some of the Market's most popular producer-only exhibits.

If you like traditional Mexican fare that is bursting with flavor, then you're going to love Tamales Empanadas Angel. Owner Maria de Los Angeles Garcia de Zambrano has been making tamales and empanadas since she can remember. Her great grandmother shared the family recipe, and today, Maria has brought the authentic favorites to Puerto Vallarta's Old Town Farmers' Market.

"It's a long process to make the tamales and empanadas," says Maria, who is celebrating her 4th season with the Market. "It takes a couple of days of preparation before I am able to serve up fresh and tasty Mexican goodies for my customers."

Every week, Mexican food lovers line up to buy Maria's ready-to-eat tamales and empanadas. Many of her best customers are locals, but those from North and South America as well as Europe cannot resist these flavorsome temptations.

"I love to see the people happy," Maria says, "But the best part is that they come back over and over."

After filling up with Tamales Empanadas Angel's fine fare, be sure to visit Helen Drake of Greeting Cards by Helen. In her second season at the Old Town Farmers' Market, she's grown her business into the go-to place for fun and creative greeting cards.

"I have been making cards as a hobby for friends for many years," says Helen, who took a friend's suggestion to sell the cards in Vallarta. She points out that it can be difficult to find all occasion cards in this coastal destination. Her cards express the sentiments customers were looking to share with loved ones around the world. "I choose the colored backing, components, trims, glister, and beads," says Helen, "And then I let my creativity and imagination go to work."

Today, customers can't wait to start or replenish their card collection with their favorites from Greeting Cards by Helen. Even the recipients of her cards now visit her at the Market to buy up the many birthday, anniversary, and holiday cards. Whether you want to say "Get Well Soon" or "Happy Mother's Day," let Greeting Cards by Helen help you say it in an extraordinary way.

Join us this Saturday in Zona Romantica, and see for yourself why the Old Town Farmers' Market is the perfect place to 'eat and greet.' Located along Basilio Badillo between Olas Altas and Ignacio Vallarta, this "make it, bake it, grow it" Market is open from 9:30 am to 2 pm from the first Saturday in November to the last Saturday in May.
