American School Students Present 'The Wizard of Oz'

March 27, 2014

Join Dorothy and her little dog, Toto, on their musical journey down the yellow brick road at the American School of Puerto Vallarta in Marina Vallarta on April 3rd, 4th, or 5th at 7:30 pm.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Since 1990, the students at The American School of Puerto Vallarta (ASPV) have been entertaining audiences with quality musical theater. For this year's Spring Musical they will be performing "The Wizard of Oz" from April 3-5 at 7:30 pm.

From the very beginning, the American School's theater and music program has been a very important part of the curriculum. Upholding a tradition that spans over 24 years, this school continues to provide the community with quality musical theater that consistently improves year after year.

This year, the ASPV faculty and students are very excited to present The Wizard of Oz. This musical classic that has inspired generations hasn't been presented at the American School in over 10 years.

The ASPV students introduce a slightly different take on this classic tale - there will be narrators telling the story and characters will sometimes break the "fourth wall." The audience will be asked to participate in some parts of the story - making storm sounds for the tornado, spooky sounds for the haunted forest, etc. The show will take place on stage but also all around the audience as they make their way down the yellow brick road. They've also included a song from the Broadway sensation, Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz.

Students participating with lead roles range from grades 5 through 12. The ASPV Primary Chorus will be playing the Munchkins. The production was cast before winter break and rehearsals started soon after in January, so they are all more than ready to entertain you.

Join Dorothy and her little dog, Toto, on their musical journey down the yellow brick road at the American School of Puerto Vallarta theater on April 3rd, 4th, or 5th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at the door for just $100 pesos for adults, $50 pesos for children under 12.

The American School of Puerto Vallarta is located at Albatros 129 in Marina Vallarta. View map. For more information, call (322) 221-1525 or visit aspv.edu.mx.
