Mexican Orchids Conservatory Construction Has Begun

March 14, 2014

The completion of the Vallarta Botanical Gardens' orchid conservatory, which will house the largest collection of native Mexican Orchids on public display in the country, is tentatively scheduled for 2014.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Never Give Up on a Dream. Back in June of 2010, the Gardens held an official ground breaking ceremony for the orchid conservatory that we are just now beginning to build. The thought back in 2010 was that a ceremony could help stimulate donations and we could build this new structure slowly but surely as funds came in.

Well, we’ve learned quite a bit about fundraising in the time since this ceremony and have refined our plans for the building and its furnishings to become an iconic structure to compliment the botanical marvels it will display.

Last summer fundraising excitement was catapulted forward by a couple whose belief in the Gardens and appreciation of its impact to the community inspired them to offer matching funds of up to $100,000 USD for this project until the end of 2013.

Through additional fundraising efforts and generosity from supporters near and afar, the $100,000 mark was reached and matched for a total of $200,000. An additional $50,000 USD in matching funds has now been offered until the end of April 2014.

Progress so far includes leveling of the site, delivery of materials, and installation of steel and concrete for the building’s columns. We look forward to sharing updates on construction progress with you right here on BanderasNews and via the VBG's Facebook page.

We once again thank all of those who have given so far to this project to make this all possible. Funds are still kindly needed to complete the project and now is the best time to give while a matching offer is still available. You can still contribute to the legacy and benefit to our beloved Vallarta community that this project will provide.

Your donation can help ensure that this project will become a reality in 2014. Please consider what the Vallarta Botanical Gardens means to you and to Vallarta and make your donation online at vbgardens.org TODAY!
