Puerto Vallarta Garden Club Meets at PCC on April 17

April 11, 2014

Get the eBook version of 'Medicinas de la Selva' for Kindle and iPad from the iTunes Bookstore.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Vallarta Garden Club's monthly meeting will be held at Paradise Community Center at 11 am on April 17th, and will feature guest speaker Dr. Leslie Korn.

Dr. Leslie Korn is a researcher, educator and clinician-healer specializing in complementary/alternative medicine and indigenous healing methods, who has been conducting research in the Bahía de Banderas and Cabo Corrientes regions since 1974.

At the Garden Club meeting, she will speak on Traditional Healing and Medicinal Plants of Bahia de Banderas, the subject of her latest bilingual book, Medicines from the Jungle/Medicinas de la Selva.

The west coast of Jalisco, Mexico has one of the richest pharmacies in the world; this pharmacy resides in the dry forest that ranges from the coast far into the mountains. Dr. Korn and a research team of indigenous and non-indigenous practitioners and scientists are part of a growing movement to conduct community-based action research about the use of plants, fruits, and vegetables that will help and heal individuals and communities.

Dr. Korn will also read from both of her books, discuss 35 years of running a free public health natural medicine clinic in Cabo Corrientes, and answer any questions you may have.

Join us at 11:00 am next Thursday, April 17th, at the Paradise Community Center, located at Pulpito #127 on the South side of Vallarta, for a fascinating talk with Dr. Leslie Korn. You'll also get an update on the 2014 Vallarta Bugambilia Festival, which is just around the corner, May 9-11.

Not a member of the Vallarta Garden Club? We'd love to have you join and help us continue the work of beautifying Puerto Vallarta.

Please do attend. We look forward to seeing you there!
