Vallarta Hosts International Living's Ultimate Event

June 2, 2014

Mexico is currently the #1 foreign retirement destination for North Americans. During the next two decades, as many as four million people foreigners are expected to purchase and own real estate in Mexico.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - At a time when nest eggs have shrunk, Social Security is less than secure, and "guaranteed" pensioned have turned out to be not-so-guaranteed after all, looking beyond America's borders makes good sense.

Puerto Vallarta has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the most appealing destinations for the baby boomers generation, as it has been named one of the top destinations for retirement by leading travel and lifestyle publications such as AARP, Zoomer, International Living, and US News and World Report.

From June 4–7, 2014, Puerto Vallarta will join the international destinations of Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama and Colombia when International Living Magazine brings its ninth annual retirement destination expo to the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center.

International Living’s Ultimate Retire Overseas Conference will highlight the retirement destination perks found in Puerto Vallarta, such as its accessibility from major hubs in the US and Canada, affordable homes, first class medical care facilities, vibrant culinary and cultural scene, popular American franchises (Office Depot, Wal-Mart, Costco, Home Depot) and growing international community.

Among the conference speakers are Vallarta's own Mike and Tricia Lyman who, after "country shopping" in 6 different countries and 11 different locations over a year and a half, making detailed comparisons of each along the way, chose Puerto Vallarta as their full time home.

For the last 2 years the Lymans have published a blog, called "Lyman's Journey," detailing their thoughts, actions, and daily lives, including monthly expenditures to show that, in fact, they could live well in any of their chosen locations - including Puerto Vallarta.

There are all sorts of havens abroad where you can live comfortably on less than $1,000 a month. With a $2,500-a-month budget, you could retire like royalty.

Places where you can own a high-end home with large windows overlooking the Pacific – not for the $1 million or more you might expect to pay in the States, but for a modest $115,000. Where you can rent a furnished, two-bedroom apartment in the historic center of a university town we recommend for just $350, or buy a large condo for $66,000. Places where you can hire a housekeeper to come in twice a week, and pay $60 for the month.

At the IX International Living Ultimate Retire Overseas Conference, you can learn which overseas retirement destinations best fit your needs, your interests, your goals. So that as soon as six months from now, you could be not just musing about that overseas dream... you could actually be living it!

With 100 speakers and experts invited, there's no better forum on Earth for you to get your questions answered and help you identify the opportunities that make the most sense for you and your lifestyle.

In addition to the location-specific presentations, you'll learn lots of other live-overseas "how-to's," like shipping your belongings, insurance, banking and utilities, rental management of your overseas property, finding work or starting your own business abroad, learning the language and other common pitfalls - and how to handle them - and much, much more.
