Costa Banderas Democrats Abroad Summer Get Together

What: DAM-Costa Banderas get-together for reduced price drinks, free finger foods, and maybe a little politics

Why: Because it's 11 weeks to the mid-terms, and Garbo's is air conditioned

PuRR Project Needs Another Airline Angel

PuRR Project, a no-kill feline shelter about 40 minutes north of Vallarta, is looking for an 'Airline Angel' to deliver a rescued kitten to his new home. This beautiful little boy has a forever home awaiting him in Calgary, he just needs a traveling companion after August 23, 2014. If you are - or know someone who is - traveling to Calgary in the next few weeks, please contact Marilyn Khan at exkhan(at)usfamily.net. All vaccinations, traveling paperwork, soft-sided carrier and expenses will be covered. All you need to do is carry him on board at the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) and off the plane at the Calgary airport. His new mama will be waiting for him there.

Villa Mercedes & Mantamar Beach Club Host PurpleFest 2014

PurpleFest 2014, a 'By Women For Women' celebration and art festival, will be held from August 29-31 at the Villa Mercedes Hotel on Vallarta's South side with some activities held at the Mantamar Beach Club on Los Muertos Beach. This year's PurpleFest has a 'Pop Art' theme and a full-blown schedule of events designed especially for Vallarta's "Pink Market." Events include conferences and workshops, special art exhibitions, entertainment, beach parties, yoga, beach and pool sports, and 'The Vertical Tortilla' award, which recognizes the artistic contributions of female artists. The weekend also includes cocktail parties and speed dating; a symbolic wedding at Villa Mercedes on Friday at 9 pm; a Stand-Up Comedy & PopArt Dinner at Mantamar Beach Club on Saturday at 8 pm, to name just a few of the "girls only" events. Vlogger AlanxelMundo Showcases Riviera Nayarit

Popular vlogger AlanxelMundo finished production on the seven videos inspired by his visit to the Riviera Nayarit, which was organized by the Convention and Visitors Bureau. The videos, Dios bendiga a Sayulita! ("God Bless Sayulita!"); ¡Una playa única en el mundo! ("A Unique Beach on the Planet!"), in a salute to Hidden Beach; ¡Una mujer ejemplar! ("An Exemplary Woman!") in honor of entreamigos founder Nicole Swedlow; Rincón de Guayabitos; Una fruta que sabe a siete frutas ("A Fruit That Tastes Like Seven Others"), referring to the yaca; ¡La mayor sorpresa que me han dado! ("The Biggest Surprise Ever!") about the Island of Mexcaltitán; plus the extra Clases de cocina con Betty Vázquez ("Cooking with Betty Vázquez"), showcased some of the most popular places and hidden jewels found in "Mexico's Pacific Treasure." Alan also published a note on his webpage, where he gave away souvenirs from the Riviera Nayarit to subscribers who answered a series of simple questions.
