2014-15 Vallarta Cruise Season Underway

Puerto Vallarta's 2014-15 cruise season got off to a good start with the arrival of the Carnival Legend to Vallarta's Maritime Terminal this past Tuesday, September 2nd. During a brief ceremony to mark the occasion, the regional director of the Jalisco Ministry of Tourism, Ludwig Estrada Virgen, formalized the state's commitment to promote Puerto Vallarta as a prime cruise ship destination on Mexico's Pacific Riviera, along with Mazatlán and Los Cabos, with funds totaling $300,000 USD earmarked to promote all three destinations during the 2014-15 cruise season. Thanks, in part, to this support by the State government, an additional 53 cruise ships are expected to dock in Puerto Vallarta before year's end, bringing the total number of cruise ship arrivals in 2014 to 117 — 10 more than were originally expected. According to Puerto Vallarta's Maritime Terminal Director, Miguel Angel García Beltrán, a total of 142 arrivals have already been scheduled and confirmed for 2015, increasing arrivals by 22% when compared to this year.
