Sammy Hagar Moves Birthday Bash From Cabo to Vegas

October 2, 2014

Sammy Hagar was forced to cancel the 2014 edition of his annual "Birthday Bash" at his Cabo Wabo Cantina after Hurricane Odile ravaged Cabo San Lucas on September 14th. But Hagar has scheduled an event in Las Vegas to replace the Los Cabos espectáculo.

The Red Rocker will host a "Belated Birthday Bash" at the new Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on October 18, 2014. The show will include a headlining performance by Hagar and his recently created supergroup The Circle — featuring ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, Led Zepplin drummer John Bonham's son Jason Bonham, and longtime Wabos guitarist Vic Johnson - which accompanied Sammy on his recent "A Journey Through the History of Rock" tour.

Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith will also make an appearence, joining Hagar and Anthony for a Chickenfoot encore. Fans can expect to hear "a rocking setlist spanning four decades — including hits from Montrose, Sammy's’s solo career, Van Halen, and beyond — and with Bonham on board, they can also expect a few Led Zeppelin classics."

The original extravaganza was supposed to happen over four days — October 7th, 9th, 11th, and 13th. Fans who bought tickets to the original show can transfer them to the Belated Birthday Bash and receive a complimentary upgrade to "Red Zone" passes in the bargain. Those who have Cabo tickets but are unable to attend in Las Vegas will be given a full refund.

Hagar also plans to make available a copy of his new acoustic album, Lite Roast, as a free download to everyone who bought tickets to the Cabo concerts. Fans will be able to access the record on its October 13th release date.

The Belated Birthday Bash promises to bring the Cabo lifestyle to the desert with exotic cocktails, street food, sand volleyball, and of course, rock & roll.

Hurricane Odile devastated areas of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula during mid-September and tore up parts of Sammy’s home in Cabo San Lucas, although his Cabo Wabo Cantina only suffered minor water damage. Hagar performed at his bar in Rosewood, California last night to aid the storm's victims and portions of that benefit show will be recorded for a television special.
