Oktoberfest: Good Food, Good Deeds, Good Times

October 31, 2014

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Whether you are a newcomer to the region or have called the Banderas Bay your home for many years it is always great to meet new people and contribute positively to our community.

On November 12th from 6 pm to 9 pm, the Puerto Vallarta Navy League and Banderas Bay's American Legion Post 14 are hosting their annual Oktoberfest fundraiser at Hacienda Alemana, located at Basilio Badillo #378 on the South side of Puerto Vallarta. This event is a great way to kick-off the new season in a spirit of fun and service.

The funds raised will be used for the Community Relations projects taken on by the American Legion and Navy League. In the past year these groups have made immense contributions to their community. They have adopted a park in Aurora, completely changing the formerly grim atmosphere of the space. New paint, refurbished games and a basketball league have infused life and laughter to this forgotten space.

They have already worked with physical rehabilitation centers, special needs attention centers, schools and public playgrounds, and they only seem to be revving up for more. This coming year the Community Relations program of American Legion will focus on much needed rehabilitation for the DIF orphanage, DIF old folks home and the Corazón de Niña girls' shelter. These places not only serve many people who have been forgotten, but have been forgotten themselves. The work American Legion and Navy League do there has a huge impact on the quality of life offered there.

The Oktoberfest will be hosted by Hacienda Alemana and tickets include continuous buffet and all you can drink wine and beer. The event is focused on fun, with a 50/50 raffle and live auction as well as live entertainment by Los Polvitos de Jalisco. This is probably a group you haven't seen before - fourteen children between 8 and 16 years old who perform Mariachi!

You can eat delicious German fare and make new friends all while supporting a great cause. Get your tickets ($450 pesos) at Steve's Sports Bar or Carol's Boutique (both on Basilio Badillo in Old Town), or from any Navy League or American Legion member. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the event.
