PV's Winter Theater Season Underway at Act II STAGES

November 7, 2014

Act II STAGES is located in the Zona Romantica, on the corner of Insurgentes and Basilio Badillo, just a short stroll from the beach on the South side of Puerto Vallarta. For more info, call (322) 222-2357.

Puerto Vallarta's theater season officially opened on October 25th with the return of funny man and playwright Del Shores in the Main Stage Theater - but ACT II Entertainment is just getting warmed up for a winter theater season bursting with vitality and verve.

The first not-to-be-missed show of the season is Assorted Fruits and Vegetables, a spitfire comedy written and directed by Vallarta resident Ron Spencer, who has recently retired from his position of Founding Artistic Director at Theatre On The Square in Indianapolis. 'Assorted Fruits and Vegetables' (AFV) takes place in the United States' first Midwestern all-gay retirement community, where one man's irreverent attitude and turbo-charged sex drive wreaks havoc when fueled by a handsome, young Latino care giver. A love story like nothing you've ever seen, AFV will be running Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from November 6th through 22nd at 8:00 pm.

Next up is Love Letters, starring world-renowned actors Linda Purl and Gregory Harrison, for two shows only on December 5th and 6th. Actor and producer Gregory Harrison is best known for his roles on Trapper John, M.D.(1979), Los Colmillos del Infierno (1984) and Au Pair (1999) and countless other television shows and movies. Linda Purl is known to audiences as Ashley Pfister, Fonzie's fiancée on Happy Days, Charlene Matlock, Andy Griffith's daughter on Matlock, and more recently from recurring roles opposite Gregory Harrison on Reckless, also from appearances on True Blood, the role of Helene Beasley on The Office, and in the Golden Globe Award winning series Homeland, as Elizabeth Gaines. She has starred in over 45 made-for-TV movies. Broadway credits include Tony nominated The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Getting and Spending; and she has performed at such theatres as Long Wharf, Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Old Globe, Mark Taper Forum, Santa Fe Opera, Cleveland Playhouse, Berkeley Rep, Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Princess Grace Theatre in Monaco, Imperial Theatre, Tokyo, Japan. Tickets are now on sale at vallartatickets.com.

To get you in the holiday spirit, the much-loved Puerto Vallarta Men's Chorus (PVMC) returns to the Main Stage for their all new PVMC Holiday Concert under the new direction of Maestro Alfonso Lopez. Act II Entertainment is very excited to welcome them back to the Main Stage on December 4th, 12th and 13th.

Season 2 of The Voice of Vallarta returns to the Main Stage on December 7th at 8:00 pm, hosted once again by Juan Pablo Hernandez, who turns Spanglish into an art form! Don't miss the competition's Season Opener with this year's new judge PVMC Choral director, Alfonso Lopez. Also and returning to the judge's table are Kharla Barragan, Carlos Santana, and Elizabeth Ensor. The Voice of Vallarta will run every Sunday till the big closing night March 29th. A Voice of Vallarta Pass is now available at vallartatickets.com. This pass will get you into all auditions, seats in the first three rows, one cocktail per show and seats for the big closing night.

Forever Plaid opens for 2 performances only on December 19th and 20th. Under the direction of Alfonso Lopez, audiences will enjoy the story about 4 singers from Puerto Vallarta on their way to their very first paid job performing at the wrap party of The Night Of The Iguana in 1964. Before they arrive a bus full of nuns, on their way to the Lady Of Guadalupe Church for a vigil, runs them off the highway and plunges them to their death. Fifty years later, on the anniversary of the movie, they are brought back from heaven to perform their show one time in front of a living audience. Starring local performers, Elvis Martinez, Alfonso Lopez, Alfredo Mendoza and Alberto Montalvo Zodek, 'Forever Plaid' is produced by Act II Entertainment.

And that's just the beginning of a 2014/15 season that will be full of people, stories and human moments that are larger than life at the ACT II Entertainment complex. In addition to the Main Stage productions, there's a full line-up of musical entertainment planned for The Red Room Cabaret and the Encore Piano Bar.

Act II Entertainment founding partners, Elizabeth Ensor, Danny Minnini and David Restivo plan to continue bringing the highest level of entertainment to STAGES; where a complete evening of entertainment in any one of their three venues along with a delicious drink and appetizer menu is all in one beautiful, convenient location.

STAGES is located in the Zona Romantica, on the corner of Insurgentes and Basilio Badillo, just a short stroll from the beach on the South side of Puerto Vallarta. Valet parking is available. The box office is open daily from 1 to 10 pm. For more information, call (322) 222-2357, 222-1512, or "like" them on Facebook
