Vallarta Retiree Gets in Touch With Her Inner Groupie

November 24, 2014

Kim Kuzma brings her powerful vocals, upbeat rhythms and charismatic stage presence not only to The Red Room in Puerto Vallarta, but also to stages throughout North and South America and in Europe.

Bucerías, Mexico - Becoming a music groupie in retirement may seem a little odd to some people, but it's been a perfect match for me. And what better place to become a music enthusiast, than Puerto Vallarta, which draws talent from all over the world.

Yes, in retirement, some people take up gardening, but I'd rather go to shows and enjoy the endless talents of musicians at the local bars, fund raisers, cabarets and theaters. Drawn to Puerto Vallarta by it's beautiful culture, fabulous vistas and near perfect climate, tourists and retirees flock to PV's entertainment scene in the evenings. What better way to finish off your day, than to go to a show and be thrilled by first class entertainers?

Singer/songwriter Chris Kenny delivers a broad range of popular cover songs and original hits.
I'd have to say that my new avocation as a groupie began when I attended a Kim Kuzma show in Bucerías about 5 years ago. By the end of the evening I'd bought all her CDs and spent the following week telling my friends about this amazing show. Every week, I brought more people into the "groupie circle." Hey, what is retirement for, if not to have a little fun, expand your interests and indulge your guilty pleasures, whether they be music, food, or whatever?

So Kim's show launched the "groupie" in me, but I've also expanded my musical devotion to others like Dwight Blake, The Banderas Bay Allstars, Chris Kenny, Brittany Kingery, The Traveling Band, Luna Rumba, Qué Tal, Latcho & Andrea, a.k.a. 'The Blond Gypsies,' and the music and comedy of Amy and Freddy.

I am so amazed and appreciative of people like Tracy Parks from The Palm, and Danny, Elizabeth and Mark from Act II Entertainment, who have created these fabulous venues that keep pumping out outstanding entertainment week after week. With a great lineup of shows at The Boutique Theater and the brand new Nuevo Vallarta Stage, we have even more great choices. And VallartaTickets.com has made it easy to buy our tickets online without a hassle.

So get in touch with your "inner groupie" and join me for another season of entertainment. Maybe I'll see you at Dwight Blake's "Memories of Motown" show or at Kim Kuzma's popular "Acustico" and "Wednesday Night Fever" shows at The Red Room, or the new Nuevo Vallarta Stage. And of course, I have to go see "Greater Tuna" with Tracy Parks in a dress.

In short, a wide variety of entertainment options is just another reason why we all love Puerto Vallarta, where there's always something going on that's sure to keep us amused.
