Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The annual 'Christmas Day Gifts on the Beach' events by Nancy Plantz and her partner Mary Heeney continue to be a growing success. Early Christmas morning, the local community brings toys to the beach in front of the Blue Chairs Hotel to be given away to local children in need of a little fun.

The gifts are hung on a string under the palapa 'Christmas trees' before the event and the children are escorted one by one around the palapas to choose a gift and receive candy.

Last year 282 gifts were given away, and this year 336 gifts were given to local needy children. Hundreds of locals and even first-time Christmas visitors were seen bringing stuffed animals, soccer balls, boogie boards, and strollers to the charitable event.

Nancy and Mary have been a part-time residents of Puerto Vallarta for many years, and 2014 marks the 13th annual 'Christmas Day Gifts on the Beach' event. Many thanks to Nancy and Mary, the volunteers, Blue Chairs Hotel and employees Luis and Erica, to Free World Wi Fi for advertising the event, and everyone who donated the toys for making this great community fundraiser possible.
