It's Puerto Vallarta Property Tax Payment Time

go to original
January 19, 2015

Mexican property taxes have become easier for foreign owners to pay with the addition of a new online payment system for Puerto Vallarta property owners.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - It's that time of the year again to pay your Puerto Vallarta property tax. Remember, taxes on real property are collected on an annual basis beginning January 1 of the tax year, which is from January through December.

You can either make a partial payment or pay for the entire year. Should you elect to pay for the entire year by February, there is a 15% discount applied to the total amount owed. If you are not in Vallarta to make the payment, you can have your representative in Puerto Vallarta go to City Hall to make the payment or you can make the payment online by clicking HERE.

When you visit the website, type in your property tax id number where it says 'Cuenta' and click 'Buscar.' The amount you owe will show up and payment can be made with your Visa or Master Card.

Make sure to keep the payment receipt in your records as you may be asked for it at some point. Any unpaid balances will become delinquent and subject to interest and penalties. Should you have any questions, contact your representative or Taniel Chemsian at Taniel(at)timothyrealestategroup.com.

Another reminder for foreign Mexico property owners, or anyone holding Mexican property in a trust, or "Fideicomiso," is to make sure you mark down your Purchase Date or the Date on the top of your trust deed, or "Escritura." This is your anniversary date and your annual trust fee is due on that date each year. Make sure your trust bank has your current email address and contact information so that those notices arrive in a timely manner. This will help you avoid hefty late fees.
