La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Mexico - The summer solstice has been celebrated for centuries, with all sorts of traditions growing up around the event. In the northern hemisphere, the summer solstice is usually celebrated on the 21st of June, but this year in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, it will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20 with an Umbrella Downwinder and Paddle Rally through Marina Riviera Nayarit.

Summer Solstice/Sailstice Events
Saturday, June 20, 2015

1:00 pm - Arrive at the Marina Entrance "Event Site" for (FREE) registration. You must register to be eligible to win prizes.

2:00 pm - Umbrella Downwind Regatta

4:00 pm - Crocodile Rally

5:00 pm - SUP Polo Games with Pacific Paddle Boards

5:00 pm - Live Music with Ajim & Alessandra (classic rock)

2:00 to 6:00 pm - Pad Thai Cart at the event site with delicious Thai dishes 3 types of curry dishes, ginger rice, cashew chicken and of course Pad Thai. Choose from shrimp, chicken or steak for each dish.

Requirements:

Umbrella Downwind Regatta - Kayak, paddle board, dinghy or surf board. Umbrella or any design close enough to capture wind. Be creative on designing your vessel. NOTE: No engines! Bring oars or any type of rudder system for navigating. Open to all ages.

Crocodile Rally - Paddle Board only. Team up on your board for extra point to win a prize! The more the merrier. Open to all ages.

SUP Polo Games - Paddle Boards only. Pacific Paddle will provide demo boards and custom paddles for the games. Open to all ages.

Again, this fun-filled day is open to the public, and we encourage families to participate... even if it's just to cheer on the competitors!
