Mexican Sunshine Inspires Singer Brittany Kingery

March 7, 2016
"Tequila Talking," written by Brittany Kingery and Rob Hill, and recorded on the acclaimed 2014 CD Dream in Blue on Exit 104 Records. Visit BrittanyKingery.com to watch more of Brittany's music videos.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - If you haven't heard of Brittany Kingery until now, you'll soon be fast amigos! She'll win you over with her charming personality, big smile and a shared adoration for the relaxing beach life, filled with sunshine, tequila and music wafting through the warm breezes. Oh, and she's also a very talented musician!

This native Washingtonian has been spending her winters in Mexico since 2013, residing in her beloved town of Bucerķas, Nayarit. Like most residents, she first dipped her toes in the waters of the Banderas Bay on vacation, but was encouraged to take the full plunge, leaving her desk job behind, to pursue her dream of playing music full-time. As her Facebook page encourages: "It stops being a daydream the moment you decide to make it your life." And Brittany has done just that.

Since her initial visit, Brittany's inspired life in the warmth of the Mexican sunshine has influenced two albums of original music - Edge of the Ocean (2013) and Dream in Blue (2014) - and she's compiling songs for a third which will include a cover of "Bring Me Sunshine" by Brenda Lee: "Bring me fun, bring me sunshine, bring me love!"

After just two seasons performing at spots like the Drunken Duck in Bucerķas and Que?Pasa in Puerto Vallarta, Brittany was approached to share her tunes on the stage at Act II's intimate Red Room Cabaret. The "Brittany Kingery" show welcomes you right into her life, sharing stories about her musical journey and her connections with the songs she presents (which may change slightly from show to show, so go see it more than once if you're here for the season!)

You'll be served a mix of familiar cover tunes by big names like Norah Jones, Linda Rondstat, and Fleetwood Mac, just to name a few. And, of course she stirs a heavy pour of her own blend of original Trop Rock songs that celebrate the 'chillaxing life' in the warmth of the Mexican sunshine. Visit BrittanyKingery.com to watch the music videos she's recorded under that sun, like the one for her song, "Tequila Talking."

Brittany's voice is pitch-perfect with more than a two-octave range that comfortably scoops from her sultry lows to belting highs. You'd never guess that she's actually a trained drummer! During the show, she accompanies herself on various percussion instruments and ukulele, and is supported by her talented band, Cesar Medina on guitar and vocals and Carlos Mancilla Garcia on percussion.

This past December, Brittany was invited to perform at the Trop Rock Awards in Key West, Florida, where she was voted the 2015 Female Vocalist of the Year and also won an award for her original tune, "Tequila Talking." She is currently confirming 2016 summer tour dates with her co-writer and accompanist of 10 years, Rob Hill and percussionist, Melanie Howe ("The Djembabe") through the USA and Canada.

Stay in the loop and follow Brittany on Facebook and visit her website, BrittanyKingery.com.

You can catch "Brittany Kingery" at 7:30 pm on Monday evenings through mid-April in The Red Room Cabaret at Act II STAGES.
