What's Happening at Act II Entertainment STAGES

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Act II Entertainment announces the first in a series of acting, singing & musical theater classes; Open Auditions for the 2016-2017 season; Brittany Kingery's Closing Night Birthday Bash; and Opening Night for local star and host, Juan Pablo Hernandez, in 'A Mi Manera.'

Act II Karaoke Party
Every Thursday at 7:00 pm

Join us every Thursday at 7:00 pm for the biggest party of the summer. Encore Bar is the place where expats meet 'n greet every single Thursday night - all summer long! The fun starts at 6:00 pm when we start the 2 x 1 drink special that lasts til 8:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, we start what has become the most fun you'll have in one place all summer long. This is your chance to play the fool, have some laughs, and hear some local talent in the air-conditioned comfort of the Encore Lounge. Join Carol Smith, Alfonso Lopez and guest hosts each week and watch your friends sing a song as you cheer them on.

Casting Call - General Auditions
April 16 & 17 at 2:00 pm


After a record breaking season, Act II Entertainment is gearing up with open auditions for our upcoming plays and musicals for the 2016-2017 season. Want to play with us? Don't be shy; everyone is welcome. We are looking for Actors, Singers, Dancers, and anyone with a talent. Think you have a special talent that belongs in a play, musical, or variety show? Come on down to Act II April 16th or 17th at 2:00 pm and try out. Never been on stage before? No worries. We love to work with new performers, a desire to be on stage is what we are looking for. Want to sing? Bring a few karaoke tracks on a USB.

Juan Pablo Hernandez - A Mi Manera
April 16th at 8:00 pm

Juan Pablo Hernández, host of The Voice of Vallarta and Vallarta Pride, presents his first solo show concert, A Mi Manera. Before being known as an actor and host in Puerto Vallarta, working with several theater companies, and hosting beauty contests for the city council, Juan Pablo started his career as a singer in his small town, San Vicente, in Banderas Bay. A Mi Manera will be a musical journey through the music he's been singing for many years since. Special guests include Vallarta Lifestyles' editor Paco Ojeda; The Voice of Vallarta's third edition winner, Eli Estrada; and his sister and also participant of the singing competition, Cindy Jazmin. Do not miss "A Mi Manera," this coming April 16 at 8 pm in the Red Room.

Brittany Kingery - Closing Night and Birthday Bash
Monday April 18 at 7:30 pm

Brittany Kingery is the one show NOT to miss! Quickly becoming a Red Room favorite, never before has Puerto Vallarta seen a talent like Brittany. With her sold out houses it's no wonder that this three time Horizon Tropic Rock award winner has taken Vallarta by storm, selling as many Award winning CDs as tickets. Her music is addicting and you will find yourself singing her songs long after the show has ended. "Brittany Kingery is truly a star." Brittany and her band have a chemistry, and together they are a Puerto Vallarta hit you will enjoy for many years to come.

Movie Music Sing Alongs
Opening Night: Tuesday, April 26th at 7:00 pm

Tuesday nights are Movie Music Sing Along nights with hosts Alfonso Lopez, Act II Entertainment's Musical Director, and Voice of Vallarta alum, Marsha Ward Ross. You will get a song book and we will sit around the stage and sing along with some of the best Movie Musicals in the history of cinema. Opening night April 26 at 7:00 pm - Plus Stand Up Bingo benefiting the PVGMC.

The First in a Series Musical Theater Workshops by Professor Alfonso Lopez

First Class - Vocal Technique
Act II Main Stage
May 4, 11, 18, 25 and June 1st from 7 to 9 pm


About the teacher: Alfonso Lopez is now the Artistic Director for the Puerto Vallarta Gay Men's Chorus, is the Co-Executive producer for The Voice of Vallarta, and is the Musical Director and Producer at Act II Stages Entertainment, where he directed and performed in the musical, Forever Plaid.

Alfonso, a bass-baritone, holds a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. He graduated with Honors and is a member of Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges, The National Scholars Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society, as well as The Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi. During his college years, he performed in the musicals Newsies and Fiddler on the Roof, the Children's Opera, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the Zarzuelas Luisa Fernanda and El Dúo de la Africana.

Alfonso has performed the roles of "Doctor Grenvil" in La Traviata and as "Page" in Amahl and the Night Visitors in productions of the ProCantus Lyric Opera in 2006 and 2007. He has sung as a cantor for special liturgies at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle - National Shrine in Texas in 2007 and 2008.

Other performances include the role of "Sagrestano" and "Sciarrone" in Tosca for South Texas Lyric Opera; he performed as Musical Director and Conductor for the musical She Loves Me; and performed in the play Alice in Wonderland by André Gregory. He has performed in the V and VI Taller de Ópera Juvenil in Mexico.

Mr. Lopez has also been a member and soloist for the Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorale, and has performed throughout Mexico as a soloist with the Chamber Ensemble Euterpe. He served as faculty at the UTPA Music Department, where he taught Music Appreciation, Voice, Music Theory and directed Broadway Musicals. He served as musical director for Opera Teatro-Bar in McAllen, Texas, where he directed more than one hundred different performances.

Unit 1, Vocal Technique - The first in a series of 4 classes
Learn the basics of healthy vocal technique and stage confidence. Topics include:

• Vocal technique - Posture, Breathing, Phonation, Resonation, Articulate
• Interpretation - Stage Presence and Movement, Confidence, Charisma

Notes:
• Workshop is limited to 10 students
• $250 pesos weekly fee
• Register early and pay less. Only $1000 pesos for full workshop
• Workshop is imparted in both English and Spanish
• Act II Main Stage May 4, 11, 18, 25 and June 1st 7-9 pm
