Biblioteca Los Mangos' Super Summer Courses for Kids

June 22, 2016

Not every child who wants to "Be a Hero" can afford to go to summer camp. If you'd like to send a kid to Summer Camp at Los Mangos Library, please email Adriana Garcνa at bibliotecalosmangos(at)gmail.com.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - Have you ever thought that you or your daughters or sons have super powers? Have you ever been a hero to them or have they ever, in some way, been one to you? What we admire in the fictional characters we often do not see in ourselves or our children.

That's why this year, the Puerto Vallarta Public Library, Biblioteca Los Mangos, will present not just another summer camp, but a Super Summer Course entitled "We Are Heroes," in which the main objective is to help children discover and develop their powers; to dream of using those powers to make the world a better place; and to learn to appreciate and be inspired by the people around them, through fun and educational activities.

This will be the fourteenth year that Puerto Vallarta's Public Library has offered Summer Courses for children aged 3 to 13. We're talking three wonderful weeks filled with dozens of fun and educational activities that range from the arts, culture, and environmental conservation to workshops that stimulate creative thinking, physical development and teamwork - all in a environment of respect and cooperation.

Scheduled to take place from July 18 to August 13th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, all Summer classes and workshops are inclusive, entertaining and super fun.

The children will be divided into two age groups: 'Mini' for children ages 3-5 and 'Juniors' from 6 to 13 years of age. A maximum of 20 children will be enrolled in the Mini courses and a maximum of 25 children in the Junior groups.

Junior activities include:

• "Wait, don't throw it away" (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse)
• "Colors A Mi" (Painting)
• Drawing
• "Miniature Heroes" (Plasticine Modeling)
• Dance
• Music
• "The Earth We Need" (Ecology)
• "Mystery Box" (Creativity)
• "Super Inventions" (Science)
• "Detectives and Riddles" (Skills for Learning)
• "Fantastic Stories" (written composition and reading)
• "Heroes of Flesh and Bone" (Social Awareness)
• "Clothing and super powers" (Character Design)
• "Philosophy and Super Heroes" (Ethics and Values)
• "Forming Heroes" (Sports)
• A Day at the Swimming Pool

The same themes will be used for "Minis," but activities, of course, will be carried out in a slightly different manner, designed to suit the skills of children ages 3-5.

The workshop leaders who are guiding the camp this summer are among our favorite heroes. They are masters of the Library's cultural workshops, specialists in their respective fields, and volunteers who put their super-knowledge at the service of the Library and its mission to transform lives in the community.

The course culminates on Friday, August 12 with a ceremony in which the highlights of the summer and an exhibition of works created by the campers are presented to the parents, plus awards are given to all children, volunteers and teachers.

Biblioteca Los Mangos, located at Av. Francisco Villa 1001 in Colonia Versalles, is offering attractive discounts for prompt payment, discounts for siblings and easy payment plans. For more information, visit Biblioteca Los Mangos online or call (322) 224-9966.

Please Note: Since not every child who wants to "Be a Hero" can afford the cost of summer camp, the Library is looking for donors that will contribute amounts in full or half-scholarship amounts, $200 USD or $100 USD, respectively. If you would like to send a local child to Summer Camp at Puerto Vallarta's Public Library, please contact Adriana Garcνa via email at bibliotecalosmangos(at)gmail.com. If you are not in Puerto Vallarta, Los Mangos has a Paypal account to which you can make a deposit.
