Summer Camp at Entre Amigos in San Pancho, Nayarit

July 13, 2016
EntreAmigos' Talleres de Verano offer children performing art, sports, ecology and other workshops limited only by the imagination of the volunteer teachers, as shown in this video of the 2015 Summer Workshops.

San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico - Entreamigos began in 2006 on a kitchen table in the middle of a San Pancho street. Today, housed in a giant warehouse recognized as a model sustainable facility, it is an active community center with classes and workshops, a scholarship program, a bilingual library for children and adults, a computer center, an extensive recycling program, a gift store and the Recicla thrift shop.

The Entreamigos Community Center recently announced its 2016 Summer Workshops for children ages 3-16, which will run from July 18 through August 5, 2016. For ten years running, Director Nicole Swedlow has been organizing these camps, which bring hundreds of local children together with volunteers from all around the world for a three week learning extravaganza.

At this "summer camp" kids have the opportunity to enjoy and explore an endless number of entertaining and educational activities, including visual and performing arts, science, swimming and sports. Simultaneously, it provides its many international volunteers an opportunity to share their skills, knowledge, talents, and interests with a vital and responsive community.

Registration for this year's Summer Workshops will be at the Entreamigos Community Center, located at Avenida Tercer Mundo #13 in San Pancho, July 14-15 from 10 am-6 pm. Prices range from $500-$750 pesos per child, plus $50 pesos for the limited edition t-shirt. (Sibling discounts offered.)

Since creative minds and hands are always needed, if you would like to lead a workshop you can register your child free of charge; simply send your proposal to educativo(at)entreamigos.org.mx.

The Summer Workshops end August 5th with a presentation to showcase everything the kids have learned; parents are welcome to come see how their children spent the summer.

Entreamigos primary focus is to increase educational opportunities for the children of San Pancho in Nayarit Mexico. To achieve these goals Entreamigos runs an art collective non-profit store, a library, a computer center and a collection of educational and community based workshops and initiatives. Entreamigos is entirely funded by donations and almost completely run by volunteers. To learn more about our programs and activities please visit entreamigos.org.mx.
