DIF Vallarta Toy Drive: 'Donate a Toy, a Gift of Love'

December 14, 2016

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - 'Tis the season of generosity, and with Christmas just around the corner, the System for Integral Family Development (DIF) Puerto Vallarta, could use your help in bringing a little happiness to disadvantaged children who are in need of some holiday cheer.

With the goal of bringing a small gift and a big smile to the faces of hundreds of underprivileged children throughout the municipality, the president of DIF Puerto Vallarta, Candelaria Tovar Davalos, invites everyone to "Donate a toy, a gift of love."

"We want our vulnerable children to have a reason to smile this holiday season. We encourage everyone to join the Toy Drive, because every toy that is donated will be a sign of community solidarity and the commitment we have for our children," Vallarta's First Lady said.

For your convenience, the DIF offices will be open to receive the toys from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm throughout the remainder of December, and the deadline for donations will be on January 3, 2017.

According to Candelaria Tovar, the toys will be delivered on January 7th (the Saturday after Three King's Day) when 30 teams, including employees of DIF and volunteers who wish to accompany them, will break into groups with each team going to a different sector of the municipality where they will deliver the gifts to children in all of the area's colonias.

She noted that those interested in making donations should note that all toys should be educational or recreational - not warlike - with no batteries required. Gently-used toys will be accepted, as long as they are in good condition.

The collection center will be on the premises of DIF, located at Av. Paseo de las Palmas S/N, Colonia Barrio Santa Maria. For more information on how you can help make this holiday a little brighter for local children, call (322) 225-9936, extensions 179 and 160.
